If you get one that works then it's a good price however the quality control seams to be very hit and miss. Also as with most inverters if they go bang there only any use as a paper weight
If you look at the feedback for the products they sell there seems to be a fairly consistent complaint against quality of build and reliability, although I think there was only 1 neg for the plasma cutter.
I would personally maybe risk one if I lived within distance of the depot where I could sort any problem face to face.
I would also only buy it using a credit card, over £100 and you have a great backup from the bank should problems arise.
I have one the same, but it came from one of the PasmaPart guys a couple of years back. Slightly dearer, but it had been reworked and has been great apart from an slightly annoying glitch that the torch head sometimes needs tapping on the workpiece to get it to fire up. Other than that it's been pretty good, although the maximum I have cut with it is about 8mm.
I'd certainly buy another one, but would probably specify a posh torch, as the supplied one feels a bit iffy. It works OK , just feels iffy!
thanks chaps i think i'll be going down the second hand but well known maker route....got to sell a couple of my migs (seem to have a bit of a collection) to fund it .....
I recently got a thermal dynamics plasma for less than the cost of one of the lts inverter ones. The advantage being there old fashioned design inside with transformers and the like so if it went bang with the aid of the wiring diagram (included in the manual) and the spare parts I can get at work it could be rebuilt providing the transformer didn't go bang (but I do rewind them at work sometimes). Down side is its not that portable and it's power hungry especially on single phase
I bought a used cut50 plasma off fleabay about a year back, got round to trying it a couple of weeks back and wow ! I'm converted, stuff cutting with a grinder the plasma cuts like a knife and the consumables are cheap and last well. pt31 torch is a bit tacky but does the job, just don't drop it
I also bought one of the cut40`s from a guy who is now part of plasmapart, I have been using it loads over the last year, it does a great job, I had a few niggles with air flow etc but had a great response from him, consumables are nice and cheap, I would recommend them. I have No interest in the company either....
I have a cut40 from one of the plasma part guys bought a few years ago also, its a great little machine, cuts through 1/2 bar no problem.
I dont know why but I was on their site yesterday looking around, I have noticed that their prices are a lot higher than when Ibought mine, but they do come with an s45 torch now, I wxpect they are of a higher spec now as well, they also do a machine with pilot arc, they are over £500 now, I only paid £250 for my old cut40. I think they have come a long way since they started off, I would imagine they have sold a lot of units and I have read a lot of reviews from people that are very happy with them as well as their after care service. As everyone knows these are all chinese machines but then so are a lot of the big brand machines, Hyundai were crap when they started out, now look at them they make some good cars and they last a long time, who remembers the old ponys they used to make, rust buckets in the showroom.
Good products will get good prices and good service is priceless.
I have a Giant Cut40 and its impressive. Paid £92 for it on eBay second hand! New and unused. All that was missing was the reg. it had never even been fitted!
i got a cut60 but its a 50A machene of tig-mig on ebay
its a bit pants compared to the cebora but its a fraction of the size, fraction of the weight and runs on singel phase and cost a hell of a lot less so overall a bloody good bit of kit i have also failed to kill it so far and thats not for lack of trying
