TIG pedal vs. trigger on gun

Do you guys recommend a TIG gun that has a pedal, or has a trigger on the gun?

I prefere the slider on the torch, pedal is a bit out dated, fine for bench work not so good in hard to reach places.

you will have to make sure it has the plug first, most lift arc inverters dont have a remote plug, which is a pitty.

Any kind of amp control is of course a benefit to the user, personally, I prefer learning with trigger on/off control first, tweaking slop up/down to your favour.

Then look at foot/torch amp controllers later, this way you touch all bases.

I use to weld up subsea Christmas trees for BP, I would work the pedal like I was playing the bagpipes, I still prefer trigger only though, saves wear and tear on the arm pits

That Amazon one will work fine but will only give you the ability to do 'scratch start' tig welding though as you've been used to a stick welder anyway you might get on ok with that.
I'd probably put a bit more towards one with lift or HF start.

Slider controls on the torch are rare on this side of the pond as is even a torch on/off switch.

MOst everyone uses a foootpedal or relies on slope controls on the welder.

I do virtually all my tig work using the pedal,
As most of my stuff is car related i've often spent a whole night on my back welding the underside of chassis and floorpans using the pedal under my knee or with the side of my leg,
Even learnt how to use the pedal as a squeeze box between both knees!
Believe me you dont want to be climbing out every 10mins the keep altering the amps on the welder to suit varying thickness and gaps.
