there was one on the tube showed what was left of a bloke that got caught in a lathe not nice half a head left![]()

We did a few stupid things like letting the gas and air run on the forge for a while before lighting it and suchlike but it seem those days are long gone with the advent of the Nanny State and "Resistive Materials", we had worse injuries in PE than Metalwork!

I'm wondering if the guy who ended up dangling from the lathe by his leg wasn't trying to remove the chuck and wasn't expecting the fool behind him to switch it on at all.
Of course if that was the case then I wouldn't give much for the life expectancy of the fool who pressed the button.
