they seem to be selling off an engineering works and there's pretty much everything you ould want up for sale.

Unfortunately the welders, etc, are finishing within the next 4 hours.

It seems ebay fever has set in already, which happens to quite a lot of bowland's auctions and the 2hr stuff has become somewhat inflated. Theres a milling clamp set which by the time you add on the carriage is actually the same price direct from RDG brand new...

The only thing Id have thought worth keeping a eye on, and thats if I lived in sussex / had single phase only/ needed a pillar drill, was the pillar drill sold for spares, since all the bits missing are the bits you'd swap in a single phase conversion anyway, apart from the stepped pulley, and you'd have to get one to suit the new motor for that...

Also who are Bowlandtrading. have you dealt with them before ? is it a receivers disposal company ?

Ick, some of the later items are in burgess hill which is in sussex, the very first ones are in darwen in lancs, your right. I didnt click on any of them, as they didn't really grab my attention!
I forgot bowland are usually auctioning off more than one dead company at once...

just looked where they are burgess hill, thats like 15 mins drive from me lol. To me it just looks like they are a machine tool seller that use ebay as an outlet. could be they have just done a major clear out

I thought they were receivers, liquidaters, etc.

As you say, the 'fever' sets in, I've seen it at local auctions too.

There's a few 'muppets' out there.

Wahaay!! i bought the WELDER OXFORD MODEL RT 300 OIL COOLED for just £26+VAT and im near enough to collect in person. I just hope it works now

The rt 300 if i remember correctly runs 240 or 415volts, should do you nice for 6mm welding rods

I was browsing the list again, and I thought mmm that little oxford looks ok price wise so far despite my statement, so good on yer!
Yes I have dealt with bowland before, actually my big BOC ADR tig came from them, via their pallet service, although when I asked if they would palletize something else of similar size and weight, they posted up in the listings "do you realize how big this is? its not a play toy you know", and made it public on the listing for everyone to see. So, at that point I decided that I would never spend another penny with them.
They generally strike me as recievers who specialize in engineering clearances...

Zardoz there aint much to go wrong with them they just keep going and going I have 2 and would never sell them. Daz is right they will run single phase or 3 phase for single phase you will need a 40/45 amp supply( same as elc showers) to weld on the higher settings

daz you ever took the lid off 1 often wondered about chaning the oil but always put it off

I got a 180 thats dead, think its the transformer, but i did change the oil to see if water had got in. Long time ago i might add, got myself into the pleasures of DC inverters and never bothered with it again. Anyway there is possibly a drain off plug, needs a square spanner. Un do the bolts on the top of the welder 10mm spanner head i think, once they are all removed just grab the top half and pull apart. the whole transformer section etc is bolted to the top half of the unit. you should then have a tank on wheels which is where the oil goes. remember when you pull the top half out oil will spill everywhere as it drips off the transformer. change the oil and re fix top back in job done . if you do have the drainer on (not seen it on smaller models), it is possible you can just drain it all out and refil from the drainer. cant remember what oil it is supposed to have but they take loads of it

One thing i forgot oxfords have one fault, to change the power setting you lift and turn the handle, inside the machine the handle has a bar on it this bar lifts into a U shaped copper holder one for each amperage. on old well used ones these U shapped copper bits can get worn or even burned away or just mis-shaped, there is sometimes a need to bend them back into shape. I have even been told if they are burned just remove the copper U's from what ever amperage you dont use (normally the low ones) and swap them around.

Just thought i would add that useless info while we are on the subjects of oxford welders

Yeah, me mate has bought off them - they go to the big auctions - buy up a load of stuff, then get the ebay punters to collect direct from the auction - that's why the locations are all over. Me mate picked up some stuff from their warehouse - they employ a load of scroates to find the stuff in the warehouse and thro on the back of yer wagon. Not really service with a smile - buy hey, if its a bargain!!
