kunifer brake pipe...what colour is it

i asked a while back about brake pipe materials and decided on kunifer type material

i bought some and used it , but while browsing at a autojumble i noticed one selller had kunifer for sale and it was a golden colour

the stuff i was sold is copper colour like plumbing pipe

does it vary in colour or have i been missold copper?

I say a light Bronze colour. Kunifer is a trade name and there are other cupro-nickel pipes available, these may be a slightly different colour.

could you tell em by looking at it ...or jsut the sellers word?

all the pipe ive ever seen looks like light copper colour , but this other one i saw had a golden/yellow look

The stuff I bought was misty buff.

As RTB says, it varies depending on which manufacturer, some are more coppery, some are paler.

Definitely different to copper, it's always a light bronze colour. It's also slightly stiffer than copper.

Well there seems to be a conflict between the title of the auction and the product description, two different products. Copper is different to cupro nickel.

That is copper, Kunifer is a mix of copper, nickel and iron (cu ni fe chemical symbols) and I never found it to be stiffer than copper it works easily enough. Copper looks a lot more coppery, kunifer looks pinkish in the right light.

Here's a picture of kunifer showing the colour, it looks like they use a generic brake pipe picture for the ebay ad.

Had this from the same supplier http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cupro-Nic...584?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c0dac2c20, you could compare it with a known piece of copper, ie household water pipe, cupro nickel will be noticeably different, much lighter colour.

As the others have said Kunifer is a bronze colour, copper is copper coloured, that pic is definitely copper but maybe a generic pic. Post a pic of what you have

BS EN 12449 C106 (aka cw024a) is comercially pure copper. Cuni would (should?) be marked up as EN 12449 CW352H (aka C70600) which is CuNi10Fe1Mn

whats the stainless like to straigthen langy? i think i will re do it soon

theres nothing wrong with using copper for brake pipes providing its clipped properly . its been used for years , this argument has been gone over a few times the fores and against

Easy, it's easy to straighten brake line just drill 3/16" hole through a bit of 4x2 the long way, poke pipe through it and pull, you then have straight pipe
