aldi metal paint in stores again

I bought a tin on Sunday, just to try out.

If i recall, it does say on the tin that it can be sprayed. I don't know though, will it need to be thinned (with thinners?) before it can be sprayed? or is it a case of trial and error, use thinners if you feel it needs it?

i thin it with celly thinners..sprays fine

maybe 10-15% i jsut thin it to taste really lol

I use nothing else now for metalwork, really good stuff.

Never sprayed it yet though, brushes wash out in white spirit/turps so that would thin it, although celly thinners may improve the drying time I guess.

I use the Aldi metal paint too,And find it pretty good. But the price seems to have rocketed the last couple of years, I,m sure I used to pay £2-99 for it not too long ago,Still not a bad price,

yeah its creeping up...but then see what similar costs in a diy store and its nearer £10-12 and some cases its 750ml

I bought a tin of white on Sunday, it's the bees knees IMO for good coating and reasonably quick drying and the finish is tough. Two quick coats and no primer needed on reasonably clean surfaces. I like to keep some of each colour for jobs in the shed.

Yes £2.99 was what I first paid too, that was Oct 2010 so it's gone up a fair bit, probably demand sorts the price and as mentioned it's still cheap for what it is.

The trick is to go in shortly before they close the day before the offers as they put them out ready for opening the following day, well our local one does

It variea a bit with the specials, sometimes some stores don't have it or they only have part of it, sometimes they are gone very quickly, but another store may have them still and sometimes they are hanging around for weeks.

Also, as with the paint, they've cheap and often well worth buying, but they're not the tremendous bargains they were five or six years ago.

As usual with Aldi stuff, no clue as to the manufacturer.

I think it's good value for money. You definitely need two coats like it says on the tin. I find it's a bit thin and it's easy to miss bits or have the paint covering very thin in places, but that's probably down to my poor painting skills.

I don't know about the patter on the can about being able to paint over rust.

It says on the can it's made in Germany. Everyone I know who's lived in Germany has told me about the unbelievably rubbishy quality of the paint sold there.

I've found this is fine and good for the money.

It's back in store today, though admittedly not so many in black at the Southampton store now that I've visited

A load of people were queued at the door at opening time, I wondered if we were all going to be jostling for paint but apparently I was the only one sad enough to get there early for non-groceries this morning.

Also had some sanding/cutting discs on offer today.

Aldi have the Deco metal paint in today, managed to get the last three tins here. The don't get many in Brid. store apparently.

Plenty at my local store. Got 2 black and 5 green. Black is for Mahindra chassis and green for garden railing, trailer, ramps, axle stands etc.
