As you can probably tell from the title I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to this.
I want to change the sills on my escort van and probably do a bit of patching and a few bits on the exhaust.
I'm looking to buy a welder as opposed to rent one so I am not rushed and have it if I need it for anything else.
Few questions.
What ampage should I be looking for, I think that's what I need to be looking at although I have read about voltage aswell
Am I right in thinking It should be from 100 - 150 amp??
All the picture I've seen seem to show a jump lead style connector on them, does this mean I could run the welder from a car battery or is that an earth?
I need something that I can run from a normal home plug socket, can this be done?
Some say gas, some say no gas, some say both. Is it a case of using gas instead of electric or do they support each other, what's the differences?
Thanks in advance
Paul
