Pondman, the best way to work these things out is to have a go.
Do a crap rough lash up to see if ideas work then transfer them to the real thing and balls it up completely.

Ye they are a real s**t to move. Ive just been down to pick 3 of them up for exhibit this weekend and they were a real pain to move especially as I was on my own. The feathers are all individually cut with the plasma and tacked on from the bottom up to hide the welds. If you check out " how to build a Red Kite from steel" on you tube there is a bit on there about how I mark and cut the feathers. You can get 2 rows of them from 1 line which saves a bit of cutting

No I just use 1mm mild steel and leave the sheet outside to rust on one side only. That way you can reverse it for different colouring. I now just use waxoil for the weatherproofing which so far has been working fine. It dulls the patina a bit but you cant have it both ways

Unfortunately us tight Scots are all skint. Its all the rich English retirees up here im targeting. Their the ones with the dosh and the big gardens and hopefully large wallets

Lol... Im getting a bit keen to sell a few cos I could do with the cash for a shed/garage in my back garden to continue sculpting, ive got loads of new ideas. Its costing a lot in diesel up and down to the workshop and as im really starting to get some fantastic feedback including the local paper wanting an interview I could do with a workshop closer so its going to take a bit of money...wife wants new kitchen but ive got other ideas lol

A cheap solution to the shed problem is a poly tunnel structure, my friend use one, a decent size about 4x5m ish cost about £200 for materials and a days work to out it up.
Ramsay....as always your work makes me just sit and look, with a rather slack jaw as well,

Thanks Sean, much appreciated. Well I reckon if I can please a woman with my work ive made it and funnily enough one of my mates wifes likes them as well and she is difficult to please. From my wife I get the usual comments "aye thats good" and thats it so ive given up trying to impress her
