vintage lead light..anyone know about these?

any of you older members remember em? its lucas brand made in england

the tail fin turns around to wind up the wire , its all metal

I've got one somewhere, it was old when given to me thirty plus years ago, mine needs a bulb, as as I recall they are screw cap and not easy to find, the bulbs are what used to be used in interior lights in buses, mines got crocodile clips on, I think yours has been modernised.

yeah wondered when those cig lighter sockets came into cars? even that looks old its not like modern ones

Good find. I have one like that and an earlier type with a plain looking body and punched grill dome over the bulb. It would have originally had a small 2 pin plug which connected to a matching socket supplied with the lamp to be fixed to the dash somewhere.

heres the bulb as promised ..12v 36watt siemens H76

the lamp is really built to last , even the hook as a rubber buffer on it and a lock nut , i think the pointy end is brass

let me know if you find a modern bulb that fits these for okay money..cant find much other than vintage bulbs for £20

ah so stop bulbs fit then

looks like i did ok for £4 , this ones way worse condition and no wiring (im not the seller)

£4 is a total bargain !! That ebay seller is a chancer, no way will he get that ! Yeah, stop bulbs are a straight fit, twin contact types.

the stop bulbs surley wont work correctly both connections on the bottom of a stop / tail bulb are positive and the bayonet part is the negative connection

Just a stop bulb, not stop & tail. There are 2 versions of single filament stop bulbs, single and twin contact.

As well as the 2 pin plug,the ones with the punched steel cover,came with fabric covered,twisted 2 core cable.We used to have one in the boot of the Ford E93A,though of course,it was 6 volt.
