Nah man,they're good for the price but just a little bit finicky for me on the imperial side,I do have one but only use the mm side of it.

I got one three years ago. It uses a battery every year, in about January, or whenever it gets really cold. I buy the batteries in the pound shop so currently have about ten years worth as they come on a blister strip. Brilliant bit of kit for the money. I don't know exactly how accurate it is but its certainly good enough for everything I need to do.

Blimey thats certainly better than my set. About 3 batteries a year so far, and it only gets used occasionaly.
I may take a punt on the Aldi set and see how they do. It's worth the money just to save the frustration!

When its not in use take the battery out because for some reason the battery loses power whilst in the calliper.
Works for me because I also found a new battery went dead when i'd only used it half a dozen times.

Yeah thats what I do now, but it's a pain. I'd like to take it out of the box, turn it on, and use it. Switch off and then put it away for next time. Not much to ask really!

Think there maybe some differences between type as I have two of these calipers. One will retain the setting you last had it on when powered off ie set to say 12mm, power off, slide to close jaws (out of habit) power on and it will read - 12mm. Other one (think that was a aldi one) does not retain last setting so have to rezero if powered on with jaws open. I found the "remember it's setting" one does use the batts up quicker (keeping the ram store value?)

I have one similar to the aldi one, i guess they are all made by the same chinese company, and then branded by the seller. Great value and pretty decent. Another bargain on that site was the 4 piece Pry bar set for £8.99
