I listed a seat release cable that someone asked me too after we had agreed a price of £34 ( I don't normally list on request ) once listed they offer me £30! listing deleted and punter blocked

If they got your eBay password via the linky would eBay detect it's a different machine trying to log in if they try to use the password?...and then trigger the 2 factor authentication stuff?

I've seen a few scam adverts on ebay where the 'seller' has loads of feedback but the account does not seem to have been used for a while.

Not quite sure how the scammer gains access to the account but they obviously can still get it somehow?

Dormant and long-unused accounts getting taken over by hackers has been a problem for many years, just ask google etc.

A random link has some info, someone was selling a list of 14 million hacked accounts.
