ACF50 in aerosol

What about one of the refillable aerosols you charge up with compressed air?

I tried one, it was useless, exited in a stream rather than a spray but maybe others are different. The trigger spray bottles you get in garden centres etc are way better.

If you get it on hot engine parts you get a good waft the next few times you start the motor.

sorry i meant to add to my post also to confirm, the aerosol is worse than useless.
just buy it by the litre, and use it in a pressure spray bottle or manual application

Yes, I agree, but in your OP, you indicated test strips will simply be placed outside ?

I want a real test, I would somehow affix them to the bottom of a vehicle, preferably behind a tire
for maximum exposure.

Bennetts Bike Social did exhaustive tests with many corrosion inhibiters. He got new pieces of steel and applied the products as per their instructions then sprayed them with a salt solution every day. He also tested compatibility with plastics and O Rings.
He has done 3 or 4 tests now when new products come on line, you can see the latest one HERE

I diluted some (50%) with meths and put it into an ordinary spray bottle, for machine beds. Seems to work.

The spray bottle provided with the ACF50 does nothing but a fine jet, so you either get it all in the right place, or none.

That was waxoil not Hammerite Waxoyl, I’ve always found Waxoyl pretty useless

You have to remember that the testing was specifically for motorbikes and I don't know many people who would spray on something to a motorbike that is extremely hard to remove and doesn't look the best.
Fine for under a car where everything is hidden but on a bike where you see everything is not the best.

Back in 2013 it wasn't bad in Classic Cars longer test

Oh, absolutely understood - I was watching it from the POV of something to stop cars going rusty from inside.

And to reiterate @Cobbler 's point: The Waxoil in the test was Jenolite Waxoil Spray:

(And to get back to the OP - I bought an ACF50 aerosol years ago because I heard it was the dog's danglies for preserving motorbikes through the winter. I've still got most of it, because I couldn't persuade it to come out of the can at more than a gentle ooze.)
