We had one jobsworth turn up and do that. One phone call by the missus had that sortedI think that died a death when people just voted with their feet & just bought their oil elsewhere - so all of a sudden their "safety concerns" evaporated

Here in NI at least fire protection to oil tanks where the min spatial distances cannot be achieved is done by way of a wall.I have all the info about tank distances from buildings etc (can't really meet them) and fire barriers but can't tell if OFTEC actually sanction a "fire rated tank".
This is the thing isn't it? The insurance will just say NO if anything happens then I'll have to chase them through the courts while living in a tent!Just pay the oftec man to fit a tank, his fault if not right you can sue him
It's a tricky one isn't it!This is the thing isn't it? The insurance will just say NO if anything happens then I'll have to chase them through the courts while living in a tent!
Almost whatever I do will be much better than the tank that's there now but I can't make it fully compliant without building walls and knocking down a shed unless a fire resistant tank is used and I'm not 100% sure that's even good enough.
Fit air source….problem solved, well oil tank problem solved…This is the thing isn't it? The insurance will just say NO if anything happens then I'll have to chase them through the courts while living in a tent!

Mate has one on his modern barn conversion. He is VERY grateful for his wood burnerFit air source….problem solved, well oil tank problem solved…

Oil and mains gas about the same here i think. Around 4 to 6p per kw/h. Electric maybe 23p to 30p per kw/hOil is the chespest form of fuel in many cases. Indeed in NI.
Poeple are moving to gas systems on somewhat misleading advertising and air source heat pumps on older properties which then costs a fortune.
Oil is still king in terms of running costs

The contractors grabbing the Grant money while doing installs of ASHP will put them into just about anywhere it seems.Oil is the chespest form of fuel in many cases. Indeed in NI.

Mine is against an old wooden fence on a boundary covered in brambles one side, just too close to the shed the other side unless I get a tank about 250mm wide I can't make it fit. It's a tricky one isn't it!
My tank is bonded poly, right behind my (block) shed (which has a glassfibre roof), and a wooden garden fence behind it (& it's on the border to neighbours garden & fence).
What can you do!
I can't she's helping to pay for itGet one you can bury

i wouldnt bury it but id build an underground shelter so in years to come it can easily be replaced than a buried oneGet one you can bury
