I parked my 200tdi 110 up in Jan 2020 as I planned to change the chassis. Life got in the way and it's still parked up with the new chassis next to it. It's bugged me that haven't turned it over regularly, but I cant do anything about that now. Should I do anything special to start it now or just stick a battery in and go for it? It was in perfect running order when parked and has been stored in my workshed the whole time, not outside in the weather.

Id run a temporary fuel line from the lift pump to a can of fresh diesel.
Maybe do the fuel filter too.

Might be an idea to just crank the engine over on the starter motor, without starting up for perhaps 20s on a good battery?
(at least then you should have primed the oil pressure a bit & given the bearings etc a bit of lube before going for it proper..... & once started very gently warm it up?)

@reb78 I'd personally chuck a breaker bar on the crank pulley and check it turns over by hand first. If it does then whack a battery on after checking levels and see how she goes.
If its stuck then debate what you want to do... I know a starter can break stuff free you can't by hand but why risk breaking something.
My genie had seized up but with a 6ft crow bar through the bell housing I got it turning (starter didn't stand a chance, I had tried). Once I got it going with a whiff of easy start I left it run for a good hour or more to bed things in again properly.

a tdi200 ,,,, it will be grand ,,, give it a quarter of a turn with a bar if your nervous ,,, to make sure the rings are not stuck , other than that , never worry , the 200 is about the only half decent engine they ever made
throw half a bottle of two stroke in the first gallon or two of fuel,,, run it up till its warm , do a fluids and filter swap , and then just drive it

more power yes ,, but wont stand a cooking like the 200 , bores collapse and go oval if they get a wicked toasting ,,

ps my experience comes from starting my 300 that had been left for years.
condensation etc in the tank does nasty stuff to the fuel, and i would not want to suck that into the injection pump for want of just making up a pipe and sticking it in a fresh can.
and, yes, the ip govenor was stuck on mine

Maybe but mines at 270k miles and still runs well
yep they are like that ,,, change the oil if you remember ,,, put water in them when you feel like it , give them a whiff of fuel and off they go
