EWM 230 tetrix CK Worldwide error messsage

EWM Tetrix 230 coolant error message when using a CK Worldwide Tig torch. The welder has been back to the head office in the UK. They claim the cooler needed a new part. To save me waiting, they sent the welder back with a new cooler. For some reason, they didn't test my machine with its own Tig torch; they used an EWM torch. I have the machine back, and it has the same error problem. They are about to give me a brand new machine. I have suggested that I will send them the CK torch so they can try the Tig torch on one of their machines. Is anyone using a CK torch on an EWM Tetrix Tig welder? It has had this fault since it was new in January

Coolant flow to low

In the parameters its possible to set the alarm at a different(lower) flowrate
You might want to test if that helps

I would also test if the torch isn't plugged some way

They have just sent it back after having it for three weeks. I sent the CK torch, and for some reason, they didn't do any welding with it; they used an EWM torch. I am not paying another £125 to send it on a pallet. I am too busy at the moment to take it in my van; I shouldn't have to, it has had the fault since it was new. I have an amazing backup welder, good job too. It is a Kemppi with a CK torch. It works flawlessly and welds just as well as the EWM machine. It is at least ten years old.

Does anybody have an idea what the flowrate should be?
I recently repaired an ancient torch and checked the flowrate by just looking at the return hose. I would estimate it is 100-200 cc per minute, but no clue what is normal?

about 1L a minute on the iwave with ck torch. havent bothered to hookup the factory torch yet.

. not sure how helpful that is

Have you pulled the return line off and measured the actual flow rate?

Try the same test from the outlet side (no torch connected)

Ck should have a recommended flow rate for your torch, check it should be more than 1lpm.

If the cooler is pushing it out ok try flushing the torch backwards

I think the alarm is originaly on 0.6 or0.7

Pretty low flow with that torch

The alarm is set in the parameters
It says In the manual how to get there and wich "code" it is
I believe its hold the button when turning on the machine

But dont know the menu structure off my head

I think you can change the value there

Changed the flow rate to 1.2lm, tried a test on AC 170amps, the machine stopped after 15 seconds, red light now was amber when error, message shows low coolant, which is in correct, I seem to have made it worse. I think EWM need it back.

now do the return test and see if your getting 1.2 lpm back ,... maybe its the other way the setting works

I don't think you can change the flow rate.
Just the flow rate alarm.

Standard alarm is set at 0.6lpm which coincidentally is about what you are measuring. I think you are close to the limit which is why you ge the amber alert.

You have still got 0.6lpm of flow but you have now set the alarm to 1.2lpm so it's going Red stright away.

Adjust it the other way. I think 0.5lpm is the minimum though and see if that helps.

I'd want at least 1lpm flowing through a wp20 torch though (unless ck say less is ok?) so I'd still be trying to check if the torch is blocked/kinked/restricted somehow
