Best fire extinguisher for garage?

I am re painting and re wiring my single domestic garage where I do welding and mechanicing inside on my own cars.

I am thinking I should get a new fresh fire extinguisher and mount it on a wall.

Water would be a no no incase of dealing with an electrical fire.

So powder or CO2? Thoughts please. 2KG?

co2 and dont stop at one I actually get good value from a weed sprayer full of water if Im welding ,,, wouldnt be without it , low cost and easy to fill , the lance will get into tricky places quickly and a mist spray helps prevent fires rather than put them out .

depends on what's on fire.

I have one of these 6 litre one, it puts out all types of fire.

Have a smaller one in the van to.

there one type that does most every thing but not cheap

so a mix of water and co2 would lightley be the cheapest and easy to get

if you got a few fire companys around id be speaking to them see if they are getting rid of a few for a few beers that are out of date or such ?

and dont get a powder one went to a pub on a callout and a cable was bright red on the end in the fusebox and stinking a bit . the clown chef squirted over everything in the leccy cupboard and bu.ggered the lot up not just the one. a nice big 3 phase board copped it as well i have a couple of co2 ones i got given there ideal

old army bang on the floor ones ,,, they have saved my bacon a fair few times ,,, but that wasnt welding related work at all ..

I was wandering around Machine Mart fairly recently and noticed they had a good selection at what I thought was very reasonable prices, but it's possible they were on a special offer at the time.
I was going to buy a couple but the thought of carrying them home put me off then, and I never got round to going back.

I have a nu swift Halon .
Halon is banned now but I believe the RAF still use it as it works .
As has been mentioned CO2 or foam .
Powder is the last resort as it makes such a mess but is very effective .
A old fashioned bucket of sand works well .
Fire blankets have there use as well .

Buy fire extinguishers from a fire extinguisher supplier not screw fix…far cheaper.

Call into some of the local businesses and look on the service sticker on their extinguishers.
Contact the company and get a price, fair chance it will beat screwfix and be better quality.

I keep a powder, foam, co2 and sometimes a water one in most of my work sheds.
Each has advantages over other for various types of fire but if you are not sure what to use I would grab the powder first. It may cause a mess but it will cover nearly every situation, apart from a burning liquid fire where the foam is best.

I'm considering to buy several 2kg Co2 extinguishers, but would appreciate a recommendation as to a reputable Supplier to purchase from ?
I see various prices on the internet, ( that well known auction site ) but not sure about who in the zoo would be most trustworthy.
