Afternoon all,
Was at the oral surgeon yesterday as teeth have been giving me grief for ages,i need 6 teeth taken out,4 knackered wisdom teeth that do nothing but annoy me and 2 molars that have cost me 250 quid in the past few years that are now ruined so they're coming out too!

Joy! Ive got 2 weeks to wait until the big extraction day.....i cant wait!

Anyone else had a good week so far?

Mine's been rubbish too (see hand update in 'nasty accidents'). Teeth Arrrgh. Poor you. If you want a real good job done at half UK prices, go to Budapest. I can highly recommend the surgery I went to - and a great w/e break in a beautiful city into the bargain (and I don't even like cities ).

Three quarters of an hour in the chair, yesterday, having quarter of my teeth planed. Three more visits to look forward to - al least I had half a dozen locals before the fun began !!!

PS Walked into the waiting room and said good morning to a chap sitting there wearing a suit - he looked me up and down, said nothing and went back to reading a magazine. Another chap came in looked at the suited chap, said good morning looked through me and sat down. (I was wearing 'T' shirt and jeans). Is it just me, or ?????

Keef. It's Edinburgh. If you'd been in Glasgow they'd have bitten your hand off for chat. (No, that's wrong, if you were in Glasgow they'd have to knaw your hand off as they'd be in the dentist to get their plate fixed )

Bigjoe. Dentists are not the spawn of Satan (would you want to spend all day peering into grotty mouths?, admittedly for £100K p/a min) - TEETH are the spawn of satan. Throw them in the sand and they turn into axe wielding skeletons!!

Ratty, tell me about Budapest - I have tooth issues too - I find 1 major visit every 10 years sufficient, unless pain means it needs to be more often....

Si,id do it for 100k a year! Im glad to be getting my wisdom teeth out as i was at the emergency dentist a few weekends ago with a major infection in the bottom left one! and a major dose of antibiotics its stayed away so far......

I feel for you

When I was 21 we used to have to fit tyres manually due to the company being to tight to buy us anything other than a bead breaker and some tyre leavers....cut to the chase I smashed all of my front top teeth out when doing the push down on the back bead with a tyre lever and release bead from rim with hammer

since then (Im now 36) Ive spent over 2 and a half grand on my teeth and loads of hours in the chair

back then I used to be absolutely petrified had 4 abcesses once for nearly 4 years which went into 4 extractions and 2 root canal fillings on cr*p repairs in the past(read...big girl) but have had so much done since that Im not bothered anymore....childhood horror overcome

Hmm, I'm due to the dentist next week. aint been for ages and ages - always finding a reason not to go. Dread to think what the prognosis will be after inspection. My previous experiences felt like he had the SDS hammer drill and industrial hoover in my mouth while he was doing a filling. Really not looking forward to it but need to get sorted. Tchoooo.

I stopped going to dentists when I was a kid as my dentist got paid money to cover my teeth in amalgam. I've got a dozen ugly fillings from about 6 years worth of dentistry.

Had to pop back to a dentist last year after a bit of toothache. Fair enough a previous filling had dropped out and that tooth now needed a root filling (they drill into your brain for them!) but the rest had survived 20 years perfectly well without all the regular fillings.

Dentistry is the profession most prone to suicides so it can't be that great to do. But some dentists are better than others. Couple of my wisdom teeth have grown in the wrong direction so I might have the same problem as you later on Joe.

But I have had a good week (at least from Tuesday evening). Never ending project is making motions towards ending. Am I planning a holiday!

I swallowed my crown the other week, I knew it was loose but it'd been looser in the past so didn't worry about it. I think I gulped it down with a drink which is why I didn't realise I'd done it. I didn't fancy 'salvaging' it either so now I look like crazy frog's long lost cousin . I've got to get it sorted but it's going to cost me hundreds. A dentist once told a friend of mine 'it's like picking money up off the floor' so that pretty much sums it up eh?

Oh a baby. Think that makes you an earth sheep (Chinese birth year) . I'm stuck in a 27 y.o. timewarp (I wish) but sadly I'm actually 46. Don't usually feel it except have felt more like 86 the past coupla weeks
