Will that work with a HVLP spray gun? Or would I need something more powerful? If so what is a budget option for clear coating/high build primer

I think you’d get about 5 seconds spraying with that compressor. If you plan doing whole car bodies then you’ll probably need something that puts out a genuine 10+ cfm. Unless you buy something secondhand you’ll be looking at a several hundred quid minimum.

I've got an Apollo 1500 HVLP setup. Similar might be worth considering (secondhand ? )rather than a big compressor.

As someone else has posted this, I will say, they are stunning bits of kit. Really quiet and plenty of cfm. Don't run them without the air filters on and RTFM and do the maintenance in the instruction book regularly.

Aah ok, smaller compressors will be fine
....the need for big capacities come when trying to paint big areas such as the side of a car. Even so you could consider lvlp guns rather than hvlp - still a good finish if you read the reviews before buying and nowhere near as expensive (say £70) as GTi Pro lites for exampleWhat's RTFM? I've happily sprayed guitar bodies with a 2HP / 25L compressor like this (not this exact one, but they're generic):

(Again, not that exact one, but something very similar.)
I imagine that the projects you're looking at would have similar requirements. (If you can afford / have space for a compressor with a bigger tank, then that would be a worthwhile upgrade.)
