Bucket list ideas

I walked offas dyke a few years ago, there's so much of the world we never see. And I want to.

Not picking on @Wildefalcon but there's so much on our doorstep that we never see, yet alone the world.

There's castles, museums, hilltop sunsets, beaches, etc, etc right on our doorstep. But most of us rarely visit them, or take the time to go and watch the sunset from that local hilltop because we're "too busy", or "I've been there before, it's just around the corner".

I'm as guilty of it as anyone, but sometimes we just need to slow down, take a look around us, and explore a bit closer to home. I think we'd all be surprised at what's just around the corner that we've never seen or noticed before.

So true, always fancied hiring or buying a camper and travelling around Britain via the coast road. Its about 6k and plenty to see, not sure how long that would take.

Take them with you. Not my cup of tea (I'm a bit scared of horses) but what an adventure that would be, 6000 miles around the UK by horse.

There's a zip wire in North Wales that's just over a mile long, I wouldn't mind having a go on...

If that's the one over a quarry, my grandchildren did it last week.
If not, this should tempt you.

Rip off the compressors, welders etc., on the back of your 101. Slap a floor, roof and bed on the back and join us in August.

You've been up to bits of Scotland but you haven't seen the good bits yet. Don't whine about driving it, shove it on a trailer and put it behind a Range Rover and leave the trailer and RR at our place in the Highlands and carry on in the 101.

There's also "The Honister Rope Walk" 2000ft above the valley floor in the Lake District, I'd love to do it, but I suffer from cramp in my lower legs/feet so I just don't think it would be safe for me or others following me....plus SWMBO gets dizzy on the first rung of a set of steps........and she'd spend way too much in the mines gift shop while I'd be walking the rope....

I’ve been all over the world, 64 countries at last count, and the U.K. really is up there with some of the most beautiful parts of the planet.

Never had a so called bucket list, but so far, I have acquired and done most of the things I wanted to. Before my time is up, I would like to travel by motorcycle again, revisiting some of my favourite places in the USA. It would be impractical with all the red tape and expense involved here in the UK, but if I lived overseas again, I would buy a kit and build a short take off and landing bush plane; a Zenith 701 model. Its been on my mind for many years, but life got in the way; and by selling up to move here to Wales, I no longer have the hanger size barn to build it in.

I think you (and i) have missed that one now. Redevelopment etc.etc. I think its very different to how it was, at the time when it was fairly safe, but still "wasteland".

Yeah, i'm interested to see how it sits in 5/10 years.. or at least post war.

Always wanted to abseil out of a helicopter.

I’ve skydived out of a chopper, it’s very different than a plane. There’s no ‘instant wind’ to tumble you about, just falling, for a few seconds anyway.
Stand on the step and just lean out until you fall, definitely don’t jump….

Daughter and me went to one, but we were going to do the caving bit underneath. She bottled out on the first rope crossing exercise, so we didn’t stay long

However, I had 3 cups of coffee while we were waiting for our booking time. And a sign at the entrance to the cave mentioned there is no toilet access for approx 3 hours once you have started the climb.
So I was kinda relieved actually.

Curiosity, nothing more. Just as I'd like to try weightlessness, scuba diving is close but there's the viscosity of the water and all the kit that lets it's down. Parachuting is also close but I'm nowhere near somewhere to do it.

I'd sign up for a research project if I could fit round my being on the big island. If you've any contacts or pointers I'm all ears. Figuratively that is.

Ive always been in the do it now camp rather than waiting till I retired etc, so many miss out waiting….

Last thing you want is to be sat in the old folks home looking at the goggle box wishing you'd tried what ever it is on screen, rather than sat there thinking wow I did that, it was great!

Ballon was the oddest feeling I had getting out…so quiet, and dropped like a brick, seemed to take an age to get stable ready for the pull.

My thoughts too. I find them disconcerting, especially the larger ones.

I went to India and Nepal in my late teens, twice, second time took my father with me.

Glad I did it then, don't think I could cope with the heat anymore.

Certainly was an eye opening experience, I'd recommend to anyone.
