Bought a "new" lathe today

On Facebook today, picked up from Neath:-

Someone cleaned the makers mark off before painting it. I have a box full of bits, some gears as well. Project for grandson.
Anyone know the maker?

I'd be thinking more along the lines of an Adept or similar.

The guy I bought it off was after a slightly larger, complete ready to use small lathe. I had no hesitation in suggesting a Drummond m type...

The base of the bed is quite unique, there were loads of lathes of that style that I can think of, Myford ML1, Zyto, Randa, Portass, but it isn't any of these.

In the box at the mo, I did remove them all to check "everything" was there. Once all cleaned up I will assemble and put a pic up. Spent an hour scraping the bed last night. Once you've done one of @pressbrake1 's scraping courses there's no going back..

Maybe the mystery deepens, at least three items are labeled "Picador". The two handwheels and a steel spacer ring. More hunting required, once I have an idea where everything goes I'll post another pic. The thing came with three different sets of gears, so far I've only sussed out the cross slide gearbox.

The tailstock is weird - has an in out adjusting wheel, but no way I can see of moving it along. The apron gearbox is missing the surfacing gear, so will have to make one. And for the life of me I can't work out the thread cutting gearbox - I suspect the end plates are missing.

Well I'd like to think it is, but there are no holes for anchorage of a nut, so I''m stumped.
Even the carriage(apron) advance can only be done with half nuts engaged, so why bother having them?
The thing with the tailstock - it has a blooming long leadscrew, but the clamping screw slots are short...

Just a thought, I had a small lathe off someone on here years ago that I'm sure was stolen when my shed got done...was an R and A or RandA I believe and from memory was quite similar and about the same size

I'd try contacting Tony on the lathes.co.uk site, to see if he may have a clue. He's not renowned for replying though, by all accounts. That may pique his interest though. I can't recall ever seeing that type of design. That tailstock truly is peculiar.

It could be modifications made by a previous owner, for some specific task.
