Hi,
Im looking at buying a new welder at the moment for a mini race car im working on and have narrowed it down to the clarke 160 and the parweld 171 from the Weldequip shop. Its a long shot that anyone has both but if anyone has your opinions would be much appreciated.I have searched and read the previous topics on both so have an idea of what to expect for both models individually but dont know how they compare.
I had planned buy the clarke when I invested in a new welder as weldquip has a good deal on them but the sticking point is the short length of the torch.I have a friend with a clarke 160 and he has had to have his jammed in the car with him while doing an awkward job at the rear of the car, this would be a nightmare for me as I have a complex roll cage to work around. The parweld comes with a 3m eurotorch and long earth/power cable which sounds ideal but i want to know if thats the only advantage over the clarke for the extra money or is it a nicer machine all round?
In an ideal world I would buy the portamig 185 but its getting on for near double the clarke price and I would be stretching the budget a bit for the parweld.
Cheers Ross.
