What brand of underseal for car these days.

I used Waxoil since the 90s onwards but a few years ago it became very thin liquid.

What is the current recommended type of underseal now?

Bilt hambler ub, and dynax s50 for cavities. Or dinotrl

I presume you mean the Waxoyl underseal (and not cavity wax) then I'd stick with it. I've been using it for donkeys years and don't have a problem with it. It does what it says on the tin. Sure there are plenty of alternatives out there but they don't (can't) do much more but will make your wallet a lot lighter. In my opinion!

I have used Noxodol 900 cavity wax and 300 underneath for the last 7 years, think pretty good.

I too used the waxoyl underseal for years, mainly as I bought a whole load of cans for use with a shultz gun at a very good price. Found it to be perfectly acceptable in use - give it a good stir, apply at suitable pressure, with a couple of coats.

Recently using 3M underbody shultz - seems okay too. Important that the coatings under it are in good nick - it won't stay intact and working if the paint its applied to is falling off, or the metal is already rusting away. Also expecting it to last forever without inspection and rectification is't sensible.

I too used noxodol cavity wax - it too seems to be doing what they claim and the 3 yr Classic Cars magazine test showed.

They do the black option now. I don't know if it is only the colour added.Or maybe something else in it? Anyone know?

S50 is great, but dont rate the UB. Dinitrol for underside for me.

Dynax UB sets firmer than the S50. The S50 has more anti-corrosion additives.

You can overcoat S50 with UB so that's what I have done, S50 "primer' then the UB for better wear resistance.

A friend asked me about using lanoguard on his Defender, I did a quick google and reviews were pretty mixed unless reapplied multiple times per year. I gave him the links to Noxodol.

Another vote here for Bilt Hamber. Much better than waxoyl, streets ahead.
Use dynax UC on anything you don't want to be a dark brown colour.
S50 inside cavities, UC or ub underneath depending on how you want it to look and what state the substrate is in.
It has lanoline in it so you're not missing out on lanoguard but Bilt Hamber is much more durable than lanoguard thanks to the petroleum waxes .
For really long term protection I usually apply two coats of UC a day apart to build up a good film thickness.
Another advantage of dynax UC is it can be removed with a strong water based degreaser if you want to do a paint job later on. Removing UB or shutz type coatings is an absolute nightmare.

I bought the 5l tubs, much cheaper than the cans.

I haven't used it in a pressure pot yet but it brushes on very easily.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but I like both the bilthamber s50 and dintrol ml but haven’t had a chance to compare the two (same time, similar applications etc) any opinions on each?

I found half a 5L can of Brilube 30 in the back of the garage the other week. Made by British Ropes. A wire rope lubricant. It's called now Thinlube I think. Goes on like a brown liquid and dries to a waxy consistency.

Had the arch liners out of my Mondeo and the lad's Jazz and put it through a Schulz gun. Coated suspension etc. Went on a treat. Time will tell!

I see more issues caused by Waxol than helped by it ,,,, I loath and detest the stuff , there are far better alternatives these days , Im an acf 50 fan for internal stuff , after that lots of choices , but Waxol is not even on my list.
