I've got a Hotpoint TVFM70BGGUK tumble dryer. The timer isn't advancing so doesn't turn off at the end of the time selected. Now, As I have worked out ,it needs the timer unit replacing. All of the spares sites I have visited are quoting around £55 for a new unit. I can buy a new dryer for £209. The old one has had three drive belts and three filters on it. What would you lot do?

Try and search for a good used part on ebay for cheaper. Alot of the time these washers share the parts.
I'd fix the one you have as all of these things are disposable nowadays and the new one may have a serious fault soon enough too!

Our tumble drier we bought when our son started at secondary school, so we could dry his rugby kit in time, he’s 49 now, I recon we’ve had our monies worth out of it, don’t you. If it went wrong I would still try to mend it though. We bought it from Rumbelows, remember them? It was on the window as a manager’s special, he said we will deliver it next week, no you won’t, we’ll take it now! Walked down the street with it, carrying it back to the car.
that's my worry. We had it replaced when the Hotpoint scandal broke. (No idea how long that was ago) So it's done a good few yearsPersonally I would buy the timer, but you just know something else catastrophic will happen to it next week

Then I use a dehumidifier (or two) in the smallest room in the house where I hang the washing if I can't hang it outside. Drys pretty quick.
Today though, nice dry, breezy day, so out on the line it went.

the vented are far better than condensing cheaper to run and dry faster our last condensing one was crap the new vented spot on
Why, 3 times as long to dry not nearly the same amount and save 2p

We have outside washing line between posts - nice high thing with pulleys - also a brabantia type wall mounted airer under car port.
Then the gas tumble dryer - yeah a tumble dryer that works on town gas - cheaper per KW. Take that Gretta
We have condensing. It is excellent. Bangs plenty of heat out back into the house rather than outside.

Oh dumb farm boys in Norfolk call north sea gas that comes down pipes "town gas".
The other stuff comes in red/blue bottles - LPG/butane - is "caravan gas"
There is another gas - that comes out my a@%€

vented work better then condencing and let warm damp air in to your house
