I have complained about mine to no avail. I'm 67 years old with 95% of my teeth in good nick and she is spouting this fashion for leaving your mouth full of toothpaste. She will not be told and the dentist appears not to have anyone else so my Denplan got cancelled. Not just for that to be fair, but also because I was regarded as a cash cow for them at £500 annually.

They want you not to rinse, but keep your mouth as it was when you finished brushing. Keeps the Fluoride in contact apparently. Fashionable OCD in my opinion, besides the practicalities.

I follow the spit don't rinse before bed. Especially if I'm using a 'sensitive' toothpaste or Duraphat toothpaste (prescription only).
Otherwise the two minute contact time using an electric toothbrush is too short.

I understood that fluoride was only absorbed as a child, that was what the anti fluoride in water brigade said at the time of them protesting.

I find a Waterpik flosser makes your teeth feel much cleaner. It's getting in the habit of using it that's the issue. It is a bit of a faff.

I think the key word is 'banter'. When somebody has a hose pipe hooked up to a Edwards vacuum pump a 1mm from your ear drum, it seems easier to get a joke out of it when it's a bloke than a schoolgirl.

I don't seem to find it easy to engage in banter with either sex when they are in their 20's. Everything has changed so fast over the last ~30 years and they just seem like they are from another planet.
