Got stung today for unwittingly driving into a Lez zone in Edinburgh. £30.

Looks like they added the last 200m of the Western approach road just to catch out those not familiar with the zone.

I was in my 2015 Golf blue motion zero tax rated 70mpg car. Should have gone in my gas guzzler 4.2 XK8 which is allowed in.

That's nothing to do with clean air. It's just a driving tax.

There seem to be a few cynically sited boundaries on the Edinburgh Lesbian Zone, just there to catch people out.
My solution is to take my money to cities that don't raise taxes this way.

I got a photo and a fine thought last year for driving into the zone in a non compliant car. I thought id just miss the zone heading to a car park up at greenside as I knew I was in an older diesel but no. There isn’t great signage and once you’ve entered there’s nothing you can do about it. Made for an experience day in parking and ulez fee…

In Scotland it is a LEZ Fine and gets bigger each time that you get gotchered.

Thats exactly what Ido, just don’t go, in actually fact the business I was planning to visit last time, have moved out-as the zone was killing their buisness.

It seems that entrapment is the M.O. lately. I just got an SP30 on a dual carriageway that has always been 70 until they dropped it to 60. I was doing 38 apparently and it turns out that the first (unsigned) short section is 30 and someone was playing with a hair dryer on a footbridge over the road. If there was an issue with dangerous speed, my reaction would have been to ensure that the ambiguity was resolved with decent signage, not pick off everyone passing down that road. However that wouldn't achieve the income of course.

I normally drive ratty classics - it's odd they are Lez exempt but if I borrow a more modern car (with better mpg & lower emissions) I need to pay to enter Lez. Classics are exempt but modern eco-friendy cars aren't??? I don't see the logic (but I'm not complaining)

Boundary is there on the Western Approach Road, as once you pass the Morrison Link junction, the only place you can go is into the LEZ.

I live an honest life, pay my taxes, and have a little money left to spend but I now buy almost everything online due to the ever increasing number of barriers and restrictions put in my way. They say they want to support local businesses yet I cannot think of a single action that aligns with that sentiment? Not a single one. Any city or town that doesn't want my car doesn't want me either so they can go f#@k themselves. Sick and tired of playing their games, if they want "clean air" they can have it, Jeff Bezos can have the money.

With out being political this seems like a protest to me!

Thats my view too, though do look at other sources as well as Amazon.
