Does everyone keep making mistakes the older they get?

I keep getting flash backs to the 1970's for various reasons. This all keeps weighing on my mind and I was all prepared to declutter until I found getting my OAP would not assist much with finances.
So since 1977 I have been looking forward to getting my pension. I.e wishing my life away.
Now it's all changed. I am.sure when the weather picks up I can pick up sorting stuff to sell/declutter but these short nights are really taking their toll on my SAD.

Anyway rather foolishly saw what I thought was a money making opportunity (pin money not a fortune.
So with those immortal words ringing in my ears. " you have to speculate to accumalate" I pressed the button.

Now this morning I woke up and regretting my impulse buy. Who knows it might make a few quid but I am not sure now after trying to do the maths. Let alone assessing the saleability.

Has anyone else done similar and regretted it?

Apart from the time each print takes even on a Bambu .

With 10k of PLA at 99 quid and the various calculations of what each part uses I am not convinced it's going to be profitable. For my own use its good but I could have got personal use licence for 60 quid....

Do decisions get worse as you get older?

I've bought stuff and when it's arrived it's gone straight in the bin, should have probably slept on it a bit longer ? i found with ebay purchases i wait a few days too see if i get an offer now !

All mine go to the watch list for a couple of days too! Some then get deleted without any being bought.......

I used to get all sorts of terrible "buyer's remorse" over stuff, even stuff bought from a shop, and the down side of trying to cure it is that now I buy hardly anything - I'll keep stuff going long after I should have replaced it. I did think that it started when I finished work, but looking back there are things that I could easily afford because I was getting a regular income, bought, then really wished I hadn't, sometimes to the extent of taking them back to the shop to try to get a refund. I like to think about how long it'll take me to replace the money I've just spent, before I buy anything. In all honesty, it's not a great mind-set to have as I find it encroaching into things like "I'm not paying £4 for a coffee!" and that kind of scenario. If I buy something and it turns out not to be all that useful, the money I've "wasted" on it will prey on my mind, even if it wasn't much.

Yes sadly you might well be right. I printed two boxes last night. It used 237g of filament.
Was running at sport speed and still took 8 hours. That said it did not look to be printing as fast as it usually does in sports mode.

Generally I don't have many issues like that.
I don't drink coffee but my wife always used to want one. However even she would baulk at £4 per cup.
I fell for this purchase as I have always known that to make money you need to either pay people to create something or create it while sleeping. (Or some dodgy means)
I have now seen what they are selling this stuff for and it seems to vary wildly.

I've managed to resist two items on eBay in tge last week.
The first an 8" Bixford shaper at £350. The second a Boxford VSL with L00 fithing and most of the goodies. £800 and didn't sell. Both in the Midlands, both very competitive prices.

Not sure. A lot of websites seem to link to Facebook and if you are not a user it's not good. It's even worse if the link takes you to a group on Facebook.

I use Facebook, but in the app, not on a browser, so that link would take me to the browser, that doesn’t have any password or log in saved for it.

Very similar to the links people get sent that ask them to ‘log in to view….. ‘ and bingo, you just gave your details to a scammer.

Worth checking with the bank - the machines will take the cash back if it’s not taken fairly quickly

I don't get buyer remorse. If there's something I'm in two minds about, I leave it a few days before purchasing it. That overcomes the impulse buy.

Regarding your point quoted, last thing I've ever wanted is to reach retirement age. That's why nowadays, having a steady income, I use it & spoil me, as if every day is my last.

I don't plan for a future which may not exist.

i had a moment of madness just before xmas and went through my ebay purchase histroy, amazon list and some things i could remember the values for off the top of my head and added up everything i bought that either didnt use, was complete junk or just wasnt neccessary at all...

quite depressing when you look at the final value of just under £12k!

Yup happens all the time ..I find it best to bin things and then I can pretend it never happened!

I recently bought a ‘motorcycle snow foam kit’ with two pressure sprayers and two types of foam. £56

Used it twice now, on my well soiled bike. It’s absolutely useless. You have to pump the pressure up every few seconds, to get any sort of a ‘fan’ spray of snow foam, and then you watch as it literally runs off the dirty bits.

Ten mins soaking, blast it with the hose, and the bulk of the loose muck washes off, much like it would have done without any ‘snow foam’ on.
There’s still the trace of mud and muck left. So out with the second shampoo, finishing soap. That does even less than the snow foam did.

Utter garbage. I now have two pump spray bottles and a couple of bottles of shampoo stuff, but I’ll go back to my usual bucket and sponge cleaning, and use the shampoo stuff that way.

Always the same with spur of the moment purchases.
