Hi sparks, here you go-

A string walks into a bar.
He asks for a shot of tequilla. The bartender replys "Sorry we don't serve strings". So the string leaves.

The next day, the same string walks back into the bar. He asks for a shot of tequilla. The bartender replys "Sorry we do not serve strings, please go away."

The following day the string stands outside the bar debating about whether to go in or not. He ties himself in a knot and frays the bottom of the string.
He goes in and asks for a shot of tequilla.
The bartender replys "Hey aren't you that string that's been coming in here all the time."

The string replys "No I'm a freyed knot".

The mirth & merriment, comes from words having same the sound but different meanings, a PUN.

'Pun' the usually humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound

The string replies "No I'm a freyed knot".

It reads as above but sounds "No I'm afraid not", meaning in this case, I'm sorry but you are confused, I am not the person you think I am.

where-as, " a freyed knot" ( sorry should be frayed = worn out) + string tied in a particular way.

Now try this-
A string goes into a bar and they won't serve it -- the usual story. So this upsets the string and it goes to a shrink to be psychoanalyzed. Since there's a little S & M in its background, it ties itself up, then tries to go into the same bar that rejected it before. The bartender says, "Aren't you a string?"
The string replies, "No, I'm a Freud knot."

Bloke goes into a posh restaurant wearing a shirt open at the collar and is met by a bouncer who tells him he must wear a necktie to gain admission. When doing a bowline, I usually start it by the fist step in the granny/reef knot. If you then pull on the non-load bearing rope, it makes the loop in the load bearing rope. A simple wrap of the non load bearing rope around the load bearing rope and you're done. The advantage of this technique is that the loop in the load bearing rope is always right. When learning the bowline, one often get the starting loop in the load bearing rope wrong.

Good site Jugs, at last I can re-learn the Truckers Hitch (whether I'll remember it this time is anybodies guess ) However, I've saved the page in Evernote so at least I can find it again easily.
I'm not usually one for browser add-ons but Evernote is brilliant.
