Got one of these in the bathroom

Brilliant it is,instant heat only use the one bar so to speak,ok you need a 13kg bottle but at £40 it lasts a whole winter sometimes more,not only that her indoors wheels it back into the bedroom,safely before you all start going
Cheap 2nd hand ones out there(ebay),got ours for nish off freegle

Have a look at safe ceiling mounted zones in the bath room .

Though you might feel like digging deeper .

Usually if things like light fittings ( not switches ) are well out of reach and not directly above water or a shower head & spray it's allowable .

Hopefully a currently in compliance proper electrician ( I'm a lapsed registered electrican ) , might come along and give you chapter & verse for such a high height installation

Done that with one of those oil filled rads, I do take it out before wifey goes for a bath though. Can’t have her electrocuting herself, who would cook my tea?

My brother fitted one of these above the front door in the hallway of his old terrace house as the wall mounted electric radiator wasn’t warming the area. It’s been very effective on economy setting but I’ve no idea of the running costs

towel rails are useless in a bathroom enviroment that also goes for central heating types as well

your far better off fitting a normal rad and use the bought rails to dry towels or fit both types within a bathroom and theres not many houses that can fit 2 rads in them

a vented bathroom will always loose heat as its direct to the outside more so on the types that vent out high up, you are just wasting heat thats been introduced to that room everytime you heat it up

the only way to vent to the outside and not loose heat is to vent downwards but that will create noise

ceiling vents to the roof vent are the worst for lost heat as they are like a chimney but because they are high up in a room they will loose heat more so

Have you come across the decentralised MVHR units? It's been a thing for years on the continent, the price is coming down to the point where they're afordable for normal mortals

We used to have a Paraffin heater in the bathroom in the 60's then upgraded to a fan heater in the 70's.

It has an economy setting of 1kw but that’s not in continuous use, only to maintain the set temperature

Wall mounted fan heater (double check zoning for where it can go).

They’re perfect for warming bathrooms as and when you need it.

The mounting holes even line up with the old holes but new holes are no problem.

Instructions state minimum 1800mm from floor and 700mm from ceiling, which is taller than a standard UK ceiling...?
The old holes are about 2000mm up and 400mm from ceiling as a guess, I havent yet measured it.

I could mount it at 1800mm but that is also around head hieght, could be annoying to be so low..?

Its up on the original holes about 1950mm from floor.
I dislike that the conduit is so close, but it feeds the 500w towel heater below.
The wire wants to exit left with no choice to exit right of the mount, so appears I will need to add another length of conduit.

Question now being, do I wire it in as is, or tidy the shed first so I can gain access to the CU and turn off the circuit..

Find something that runs on methane, and it will do double duty.
Runs for free, and keeps the room fresh.....

I dont like the idea of heaters on a lighting circuit!

I imagine they would have had a seperate feed and fuse similar to your existing heater.

Don't like fan heaters in bathrooms, as they always tend to mounted higher up, and it and the air seems cold after getting out your hot bi yearly bath.

A decent radiator, or infra red is best IMO. Actually, underfloor heating is best, but if you don't have it ..........

Could you fit a kitchen plinth heater in anywhere, under the bath for example. The joy of fan heating but with the possibility of the hot air going up your dressing gown.

Thats a good idea. If it was set back far enough so as not to get wet, and have its own RCBO, what can possibly go wrong, apart from all the fluff and human skin flakes being sucked under the bath ?
