Will watch it this evening. Regarding the development of the prosthetics, reminded me of a good neighbour I had overseas. His name was Oscar Johnson, a master machinist I learned a few tricks from. He was the man who developed the artificial arm for amputees around the time of WW2. It was his own private personal project, but because he was working and using the company machinery, even though on his own time, they claimed the credit, and he never received the recognition he deserved.

I have a few of those, if anybody needs one. Different sizes too, bought from the US, reclaimed from a family run crematorium. I only wanted one, to make a gear lever out of, but could only buy a box full.
You can still see some glue and bone on the middle one…..

Watched it all, some of the legalise in general terms I was aware of but a very interesting video of two stories amalgamated and perhaps a little self serving--but why not.

But it also highlights what I think we all know, buyer beware and the unmitigating damage, grief and cost a fraudster can cause.

He certainly was a visionary with regard to surgical procedures and apart from the hip replacement, in his later years he recognised, along with Mr Howarth the need to prevent contamination when operating deep in the body and hence the Charnley Howarth suit with air supply taken via a hose from the conditioned supply to the operating theatre. This together with laminar flow hoods over the operating table were greatly responsible for cutting deaths due to infected wounds. Quite a man.

His son Gordon has followed in his footsteps and has several thousand operations to his name, or so I believe.

I wanted the bit they cut off on my hip replacement last year, they wanted to keep it as it was "well ********" I wanted an anti theft gear knob

I only posted the pic for a larf, but the middle one is 7” overall and the balls 28mm diameter.

sizes are probably 1 7/8", 2", and 2 5/16"
