Flywheel - second opinion

I'm currently deep into a clutch change (amongst some other work) for a family members car.
It has been slipping, I've pulled off the cover plate and the clutch plate was down the rivets.

They have had a look at it too, and shall we say opinions differed on the condition of the flywheel.

It is a DMF but does appear to be within tolerance for play and movement.
What does the collective think?

No way I would put that back in. Generally not worth it even if it looks in decent shape (unless you know the history of the dual mass, like it’s done less than around 50k with a decent sympathetic driver)

If it is not cracked on the friction surface and the vehicle own thinks it is fine then express your doubt in writing and clearly state there is no warranty, implied or actual.

change it and the thrust bearing otherwise all the work may be for nothing

Replace it with a dual or (my preference) a solid flywheel.

Keeping the car = new flywheel.
Dmf is not long for this world judging by the oil/grease leaking.

I'd say they've had their moneys worth from that.

But I'd also say that if they want to ignore my advice and not replace it then that's fine and their choice. But they had better find another idiot to take it all apart again when it fails in a few miles, because I wouldn't be touching it again.

That’s a right mess, I can’t see there’s any sensible alternative to changing it if you don’t want the job coming back.
