dust mask for plasma cutting and grinding

Too much variety is doing my head in.
I've not been good to myself in the past plasma cutting. Stupid in fact.
Looking on Skrewfix there are so many.
Id like to go screwfix as it's on mt way to work for replacement filters
I dont want air fed, I'm after something to slip on and off. I dont need filters for gases and organics just the fine dust from grinding and plasma work.
I dont mid spending a bit as I have a big pile of plasma work come in.
Built in face shield? not sure, I do wear one for those jobs but I ike to flip the shield up when I'm pottering about talking to myself
I also need to be able to wear specs while working.
This one looks ok
Any thoughts

I'll be doing **** loads of it,
A few years ago I made 70 0f these and was left feeling quite rough. my lungs are a bit knackered by asthma and a close call with Pneumonia.
Crunchy black snot is not too tasty either

The nice thing about plasma & grinding, is that there is no shielding gas to worry about.
A fan might help if you can manage it. (if you have a place to blow all the exhaust to)

i bought the gvs elipse dust mask myself and used it for all aplications

works well with glasses welding and grinding aplications when used with a welding face mask

Just get anything with a P3 filter, disposable if you’ve got cash to burn

But I think I you’ve got a beard, if you want to be serious about protecting your lungs then the only way is powered air filtering, get the right product and it will also serve you for welding

You're going to find any mask like the one you show (I have one) wont seal properly if you have a beard. I find that I have to have the straps quite tight and it's therefore uncomfortable for long periods (it probably depends on the shape of your face) It's worth noting they come in different sizes as well.

I have the JSP force 8 - rally comfortable, and hapy to wear it for hours at a time. Different filters readily available.
I really like the press to check hat makes sure it's fitting properly.

The only thing I don't like; it doesn't work well with glasses I inevitably find I'm having to wear more often now with advancing years.

mmm, as a professional working in health protection I have no time for the JSP, The press to fit check claim is the biggest misleading claim ever made.

A product not worth wasting any money on. They are utter crap

Look for good quality with P3 filtration. I always suggest anything Sundstrom or 3M, expensive but they are good and work. Do you have a beard?

That entirely depends upon how much you do. Before I connected my fan extraction, the crap inside the workshop and on top of everything was massive and I was breathing that stuff. The dust is like very fine powder, it gets everywhere and into everything. I have Sundstrom full face and half masks as well as air fed. The air fed air goes through a activated carbon filter before I breathe that air. However now with the fans in the roof of the workshop and the main fan for the plasma table I have no fumes to deal with

They will be fine for short periods. Anything longer then powered filtering

Other half asked why I was having a shave the other day - I don't usually bother.

To make sure the mask I was about to wear had the best chance of sealing to my face as I was about to start cutting around 12m of concrete. Seemed to work as I noticed no dust inside the mask, or in the usual places when it doesn't seal properly.

I am beardy see profile pic.
I have a big moveable extractor fan that I put in the doorway a few yards away from my plasma cutting space.
I'll post a photo of the space in the morning.
Cutting will be in about 20 minute stints and go do something else.
A sort of relay, cut the pieces, prep the edges, set them up assemble and weld and go back to cutting them out.
job that has come in is about 50 of these around 800mm long.
No fun at all.
As Ive said ideally fro screwfix so I wont get lazy and wear old stuff. if it's local I will keep it up to date.
I have an airfed welding helmet which I use for big welding jobs but not practical for this stuff.
A proper dust mask can also sit on the main workbench for grinding and sanding

I like my 3M 7502 mask plus suitable filters, very comfortable and keeps grinding and plasma fumes at bay.
