Plumber’s gas torch

I’m looking for a gas torch to run off of disposable bottles to produce a concentrated flame - I’ve got 80 8mm rivets to set! It’s bit of a fiddly job so heating them in the forge and getting them into position is not going to be practical - any recommendations please?

Rothenberg gas torch with Sievert/Primus 2000 ( returnable refills ), be a little wary of the torch head you buy, if you Google Powerjet Gas Torch, two will pop up, a Black Powerjet and a Grey Siever type, both the same in operation, the grey being the updated/redesigned version, great torch heads both of them, the black one can be prone to blocking up if held too close to work area. I have both, my black one I've had for some 16 years, failed me on 3-4 occasions, when blocked with solder spit back, other then that rock solid and reliable and a lot of pipework joints and rad' valves have gone under its flame, just a good, solid plumbers torch head imo.

There is the Bullfinch brand and a RTMMFG brand although reviews on the latter unit vary greatly.

I believe there are adapters for the above two that allow you to use gas type refills.

The above returnable bottles, refilled, can be had as low as a tenner but seen a refill cost as much as £21.00.

as above the hottest part of the flame is right at the tip of the blue flame

it maybe a plumbers blow torch but its progressed into other trades including mechanicing

make sure you get the mapp gas bottle as the other bottle is for general use

my alternative blow lamp actually preheats the gas before it gets to the nozel

i would still use a forge though as you will chew through the gas bottles rather well

I do have a 12kg propane bottle with a weed licker that I use to light the forge…

The old Forney welding machines used to show this in their book.
Take a carbon, put it in the holder and hold it tite on the steel, no arc.

Above also works with mig to heat panels to straighten them...no wire if course!

Not a patch on the rothemberger torch ! With map gas I rarely pull my oxy set out of the garage ! I would also use compressed air with propane instead of acetilene with a propane regulator !

I actually bought it because it was identical!

They may since have changed the design...I'll post a pic...pretty sure at the time it was basically a copy and we can check.

they are both the same the difference is in the handle throat between the bottle and torch

the further update was the spin of vortex and thats by blades inserted inside to spin the gases

Rothenberger is like Draper; they do not make anything, just buy in good stuff from other manufacturers and put their name and guarantee on it.

As promised here is a pic of my benzomatic...can't remember how old it it (10+ years probably).

Feature I like is the knurled brass gas valve on the top ...they don't all seem to have that these days).

I bought it as it was recommended as a copy of the super fire (Rothenberger)

Have a Rothenberger oxy propane kit, had a problem with the O2 reg, Rothenberger would not/could not help, looked up the Mignon reg and got the service bits on line. It's a kit of parts - although very good. I doubt they even make the bottle frame.

Not sure if it's true of all their kit, didn't stop me buying their branded superfire 2 torch
