But when I and, (I assume) all previous generations were growing up, pretty much no-one had gender identity issues. That I knew of, admittedly, but I can’t think of a single person in all my 42 years on this planet.

It seems that there’s always been a natural low, spontaneous occurrence of gender dysphoria. With the rise of social media has come a rise in what I see as induced gender dysphoria, almost like a virus spread by internet.

I think the difference in our viewpoints is whether you think the extra cases were just previously suppressed, or induced by suggestion, in vulnerable or impressionable people - those with ASD or other social disorders seem particularly affected.

I can't really understand people that have a problem with this to be honest. I don't consider myself as "woke" nor particularly political. But as I see it; I don't care how anyone wants to identify, him, her, it whatever. It's nothing to do with me.

I don't have a problem either, I'd just be scared that I'd cause offence by referring to them in a way that they don't want me to, just because I'm not concentrating. Fortunately I don't really meet people, so it's not been much of a problem.

I feel for people who don't fit into the very narrow band of "normality" that has been pushed primarily by religion and governments for centuries. If you dress someone in a way they don't like, and they ask you to in the future address them as something else where is the harm.

In my mind it's the same as if you identify someone as black or fat for a verbose example. They may well be either of those things but if they don't like to be identified by those characteristics a reasonable person wouldn't carry on doing it.

To those who say what about the people pretending they identify as a female to use female toilets or changing rooms or prison etc, I say everything is open to abuse. Some things are easy to solve, have a selection of male, female and unisex toilets or changing rooms etc. Then everyone can use what they like. Somethings will take time to sort out.

My main point is live and let live. We have no right to tell others how to live, so long as they are not hurting anyone. And life is way to short to get annoyed about a choice of pronouns.

The above is where i am on all this stuff too...Just let other people live as they want as long as it has no direct negative effect on others, and how can it.

It's just a result of our sociocultural conditioning that we have separate loos.
Objectively speaking, as long as there are cubicles with doors, I don't see that it's
that important.
Additionally, it would easily solve the multi gender issue.

I think that’s a bit of a generalisation. I think most people who get triggered often have nothing to do with the whole situation. Ofcourse there are idiots where ever you go and I have found it has nothing to do with race, sexuality or preferred pronouns.

But, I do appreciate the perplexing issue of providing a safe environment from
perverted predative monsters (of any persuasion). I just don't really believe that
segregation properly addresses or solves that problem. I would even contend
that it may excacerbate it. By that I mean that, as is a well established view, that
the further something is removed from proximity and view, so the desire (for some)
to approach or obtain it increases.
Just to throw the ball out there - I wonder what the statistics are surrounding
sexual harrassement or aggression on nudist colonies, beaches, etc. The more
something is normalised, so the desires for obtention are reduced.
Am I making any sense, or am I just talking bol**cks early in the morning ?

Personally speaking I think there are far more important things to worry about in our modern confused society, than wondering if its he, her, him, it, or whatever.
Society if falling to bits look at the recent days news, teenagers sadistically killing another, knife wielding in the streets, chemical attack on a woman and her kids, basics like water and power unaffordable for many…..Far too much time and resource wasted on wokery and PC testicles, while society collapses. What ever happened to simple right and wrong education and understanding.

Female toilets have been a place or refuge for women , because no man may enter and if he does it’s immediately obvious and reverent action can be taken
I was a nightclub doorman in some nasty places and this was certainly true, women could seek refuge with other women from a creep
You also forget a lot of men , especially drunk can’t aim and women don’t need to be subjected to this.
At work there’s separate toilets, just single unit rooms and every now and again you get an angry woman shout ‘ which of you dirty lot has used our toilet and got the seat!!’
Again men don’t care about shared toilets but it seems under the ideology that woman’s rights have slipped even lower to third place behind men and the they thems
