I had to do that to buy some Puma trainers, mail order in the US 20 yrs ago! Buying them from somewhere else in the USA while I was working for a company in Cincinnati, for a girlfriend back home in the UK.

Got the trainers. Didn't knowingly lose anything from the bank, and as far as I'm aware, no-one else has been travelling on "my" passport

When I was 16 I carried around a dozen knives in my back pack on an FS1E moped.
Then got on a train and when I got off I walked across the city to the food and Domestic Arts College and never once did I even think about stabbing anyone.

Ditto here, usually at weekends but sometimes to school, I would carry a sheath knife around quite commonly. Never stabbed anyone, neither did any of my friends who were similarly equipped.
Bloody useful tools though.

Because in the US fraud is a felony, it's like passing a bad check in the US, you are going to jail, no two ways about it. On the other hand in the UK you get counselling. Something has gone adrift somewhere.

Yeah when I was not at college we had the aforementioned knives strapped on and 12 bores in the gun sleeves and a roll of cammo net. The other moped had a box on with decoys in.
So I was sixteen riding round with a shotgun. That's how we made our money decoying pigeons.

I have no issue with a random delivery driver bowling up and asking for proof of age if the recipient is or could be a minor. What I object to is the idea that said random delivery driver should be entitled to see official personal documentation. or that Amazon should expect said information to be given to them up front. The question is easy... Is this person a minor or appears to be? Answer: refuse to hand over without age verification. Otherwise tick the box and everyone bar Nanny is happy.

Age Verification items… if the recipient looks old enough, ask for their year of birth, put it in the PDA, hand the item over and walk away.
No proof necessary as long as the recipient looks old enough.
No different to buying alcohol.

I live in a small town but I'd bet there's easily more than 20 places I could walk in and buy a craft knife.

Well there you go. Point proven. You can buy craft knives that will do damage but not sharp "craft knives" for use with crafts.
I suppose I should have called them scalpels.

I can get you the sharps bin from the vets if you like.
You can have it for free as they normally have to pay to get rid of it..

Problem is, a little bit of blood from cutting a bit of tissue makes the blades really rusty really quickly.
When you are using them with saline they rust before your eyes!

If you're talking about PROPER scalpels then there's never been many places on any high street you could just walk in and buy them.
