what is your favorite tunes for welding to ?

also what kind of systems have you all got?

i have a little mini hifi type thing hooked up to a set of 100 watt pioneer shelf speakers from my old mini, it rocks!!

personaly im a slipknot man as me, fire and metal tend to put me in a neandetholic state,lol

im quite partial to nirvana or some korn too

im gonna go for pink floyd dark side of the moon next.

nothing like some head candy whilst torching the sacred fire stick,lol

Hello Syborg,

each to their own, I hate any music when I'm working, I find it very distracting and particularly when I have a difficult job to do, spoils my concentration. I listen to music when I'm relaxing, not working. Even hate it in whatever I'm driving.

i hear what ya saying mate, but i do like some background noise to give me the "in a factory" feeling.

otherwise i dont really get the same inspiration to build the crazy stuff.

also with 3 kids running round the house creating havock it makes a nice change to hear something else other than arguing and shouting while im in the the hallowed man shack,lol

plus if the kids pop in they can have a little boogey lol

The louder the better.
I had the farm office, 100 metres away on the phone the other day, left a message asking me to turn the music down and why dont I answer my phone.

I could not hear the phone, the music was too loud.

The Cult, Pistols, Defunkt, Gorecki, Godspeed!youblackemperor, LedZep, Gn'R, Neil Young, The Veils. Wait haven't we been here before.

People think it odd that I can concentrate when it is that loud. And that the artiste is not listening to whale music or world music. But then there is some great world music, if you knw where to look, Table Beat Science, a head busting exploration of the link between Indian classical music and techno with murderous bass, grooooovy. A party killer.

you Music/bloody awful noise is not welcome in any shape or form anywhere near where I'm trying to get a job done.Empty vessels make the most noise.In my experience you end up with one idiot with a loud radio competing with another idiot across the shop with another loud radio on a different station,the ensuing jangle being gruesome.Have in the past had to cut plugs off these brain by-pass systems in order to be able to think straight,although my friend has a much lower tolerance threshold than even me,and has been known to gather up the offending equipment and sling it in the nearest skip!
Away from work stuff by The Byrds,Bob Seger andThe Silver Bullet Band, Bryan Adams ,Johnny Cashetc.,always goes down well.

The radio usually. Varies from Radio One, Galaxy FM, Viking FM depending on what reception we seem to get in the shop on a particular day.

Don't know why we bother with the radio tho - theres usually that much noise going on, and everybody with ear plugs in the radio won't go loud enough to be heard!

You never were the only Slipknot fan on the forum Sparkey. I'm more of a Machine Head/Deftones/Kyuss/Korn fan.

Metal when I'm working Drum'n'Bass when I'm playing office worker.

I use headphones and always have the phone on vibrate in the pocket.

Mp3 was really a big step forwards for all the music lovers, now we can take our fav' music everywhere with us! cellphones, mp3 players, even in my car i can use a usb stick or memory card!

Grrrmbl....we aren't even allowed to have music at our plant...
So most people sneak in their mp3 mp4 players or cellphones and use the headphones....but i don't do it a lot, only when you know you will do the same boring work all day long and you can stay in your booth...

Well I like it LOUD and the louder the better I think, all my best work is done whilst blasting the walls out with Gn'R, DefLep, Lynard Skynard, Iron Maiden, AC/DC etc you see where it is going.
If I cant hear the music then it has to be turned up louder to drown out the noise of the 230mm angle grinder or what ever else is disturbing it.
It in true scrapheap style is blasted out on a concoction from the local recycling centre,and consists of a sony stereo and four sony 300 watt speakers, which are secured with brackets to the wall to stop them falling off the shelf with the vibration.

I rarely get what i want on the radio at work, everyone is too old for it, 90% of the time its stuck on R2 Some real interesting talk topic on there too!

I prefer Kiss (station- not the band!)
Faster pased music gets you working faster i reckon. That slow ol rubbish on R2 make your heart stop beating nearly !

Usually something loud & hard......as long as its decent music I am fairly catholic in my tastes .. all the usual suspects but hate it when you cant hear it over the noise, so turn it up...loud

Slipnots OK... LP are better tho

Hitch, a couple or three weeks ago r2 was pretty good,especiallyin the afternoon as the radio god C Tarrant was in situ for some deadbeats holiday, I like r2 for the most part.
When it gets boring there is the cd player, but CT made the speakers reverbarate by playing lots of loud rock, as he said he aint here for ever and other than frightening the horses didnt really care what he put on.
I for one would welcome the CT rock hr on r2, I personally still reside in the 80s and 90s with my music choice, and r2 fulfills this for most of the time.

maybe there should be an experiment like the one where they play music to cows when they are in the milking shed and see which is best

i listened to xfm but then moved out of range, then nme but they went bust so listen to bbc6 most of the day and then absolute at 5pm for geoff and annabel

classic fm at weekends unles frank kinner is on absolute

i used to have the ipod on but got bored of hearing the same songs

Michael I live in tis experiment.
Start of fairly relaxing, nice tunes, then lunch then it slows down until about 2.00pm.
Then it gets louder and faster and the workrate climbs, even soars if the DJ gets it right.
I have a couple of hundred CD's in the workshop and set of good secondhand separates for sounds. Essential. When the CD player croaked last year I tried the radio fr about 20 minutes and just had to go home.
