Problem with cheap bars is the nose sprockets are weak, and the rails chipAs you say 52DL, that will be 14". I have briefely tried this set and quite happy. Bar looks identical to original Stihl on the 020t. Cant find set in other lengths tho.
Have a few rotatech chains they are good. Annoyingly they are OOS for their 3/8LP reel so cant make me up a 38DL at the moment.
They have an offer, I may get a 25L tub of oil.

Note Amazon has Oregon stuff cheap at the moment for black friday... 3 pack for £20
They buy chains in premadeI believe the chinese bars are the same quality as the entry level branded bars, anyway the chains are better than expected and I originally bought them to abuse with rashing up branches. I did quite a bit of cutting and havent needed to sharpen the first yet.
Had to phone Rotatec as their offer didnt allow the code to stack with free chain, they insisted that it should from the wording in email so it saved me buying a 3rd chain...

They are OOS on a lot of stuff, 12" bars.. Cant make up a 10" chain for it and wont sell me any joining links.
Next, I am wondering if I should buy better 2T oil as mine was screwfix own brand stuff. RT was OOS..
I use cooking oil instead of proper chain oil. Have done so for the last 20 years. Cheap - good for the environment and comes in handy smaller bottles!I believe the chinese bars are the same quality as the entry level branded bars, anyway the chains are better than expected and I originally bought them to abuse with rashing up branches. Chain oil seems dear, best way to buy chain is on a roll and make them up yourself. Once geared up it pays for itself in no time at all.

That reminds me.
Its a lot cheaper than in 5L bottles! I think I paid £21 for the current bottle of Oregon stuffChain oil seems dear, best way to buy chain is on a roll and make them up yourself. Once geared up it pays for itself in no time at all.

No thanks, I still have gummy mess on the lathe from using veg oil. What do you use to wash out the oil tank when that gums up, or do you empty it every time?Only problem is the chain will totally gum up if left unused for a while. Locks solid. All you need to do is spray with wd40 and pull around with a gloved hand a few times until it frees itself.

Mice ate both my lawnmowers. Chainsaw not in the shed though. If you leave it in the shed with veg oil in it mice will eat your saw.I use mineral oil, the last lot I bought was from Aztec oil Bolsover they had an offer on 5 litre for £8. I've seen too much grief from using veg oil especially left in cold weather.
