diesel spill..worth reporting and to who?

our local rough family has been to trying to fix up a car and theres now a mattress sized patch of diesel under the car on the road , hey ho i thought but the f****r is still driving it and its dropping a dinner plate size patch every couple of meters , im a bit annoyed it will have a motorcylst off and its just a scummy thing to do

is there anyone i can it to that will take immediate action? thinking not...

Council, its a serious problem, it will disolve tarmac, and if it gets on roundabouts its lethal, the police would probaly be interested its its actually leaking.

Seriously, the number that keeps coming up around here is 5 gallons.
Both Federal and local municipalities.
Under 5 no problems, over 5 paperwork is needed.

Police unlikely to be much help, there was a car broken down on the road around our town, big diesel leak had spread across to the opposite lane

Lady had walked to the petrol station, bought a can of diesel and was pouring into the tank

As fast as it was going in it was pouring onto the ground, offered to help and pointed out the diesel leak, she told me to bugger off

Phoned Police to notify them of the hazard and not interested

Council on the other hand are more likely to respond

We used to have a neighbour who would bring red diesel home in cans to fill up his car. Having spilled a gallon or so, raining so spread quite quickly, I went to complain. The clean up answer was a gallon or two of acetone thrown on the floor!
The rest of the neighbours and I were not impressed, glad they have gone.

We had a spate of diesel spills from the boatyard next to the yacht club, Environment agency have offices half a mile away at the sewage works where quite a few large EA pickup trucks turn up every day.
But you cannot contact them instead have to call a pollution hotline in leicester, they send someone to look at it in about three days time by which time it has stopped until next time!
If ever an organisation needed a good kick up the **** its the EA, must be a right cushy number!
