It's the bit which supports the bottom of the rudder, from the keel.

I made a start Cheated a bit as this was a pre welded (at the corners) bit of old server racking. All I've done so far is weld some feet on and fit an exhaust clamp at the top:

I finally got around the fixing my front gate stop, before it rusted through completely.
A piece of angled steel that ive been saving for several years came in handy.
Even my stick welding seemed to go alright (if you don't look at it ).

A couple of secondhand brass screws came in very useful, too.
The bricks were already cracked, by the way.

I could easily be wrong but if the black tube underneath is the exhaust and the space is enclosed where does the fresh air come from prior to being heated?

Every time I can't see I think I should stop and sort some better lighting out. I rarely do, just carry on and hope!

Well yesterday I made the multi tool work for the second time .......the previous job on the badly misaligned / worn contacts in the switch didn't last so long so a bit more was needed

firstly I broke up an old switched socket for some parts then punched out one of the copper contacts and the old contact of the rocker switch and soldered in the doner


reassembled ( I did have to double up on the reading glasses to see what I doing ) and happy days ,


for how long any way whilst in there this time I got some details of the switch and with some google fu found a supplier of said unobtainable switch from hikoki ( you can only buy all the tronics inside as bundle already pre soldered together at wellover a ton plus Vat ! ) two switches + vat and delivery less than £20 so came in happy with myself just to be told the murican fridge freezer had given in , this maybe a far more costly replacement mind it's given 17 yrs of sterling service so not so bad I suppose .

I finally got the base good enough to fashion and upholster a cushion.

Silver pipe is the exhaust going outside. Combustion is narrow black pipe with filter on the end.

Ha good man, great effort, a man after my own heart....I often spend hours trying to fix something, which would be easier to bin and buy new, but where's the fun in that . As AVE would say........you cant #### it anymore !
Good luck with the merican FF.....mine was destined for the skip last year after 12 years use. Turned out it was saved with an £8 sensor which had gone bad

Machined some aluminium for a top for the parking brake on my bike.

Then whilst it was anodising I made up a tube grappler.

Anodising done

and logo lasered.

Microswitch fitted.

And all fixed down.
