I caved & bought the pilot arc one without the integrated compressor last time Lidl had them in stock.
Mine came with a filter/water separator on the back panel.
Only used it a couple of times (one was to cut out a section of awkwardly placed rusty 3mm steel chassis section on my old LDV - which was well handy).
I need more practice with one for sure - and I cant cut a straight line freehand to save my life!
Nice gadget though, & I have a 100L Clarke belt-drive compressor that's portable enough if I take it out of the back yard to melt anything

Did nobody try their newly acquired plasma cutter out tonight?

Not last night but I did spend 1/2 a hour with it this afternoon before I was sent to Sainsburys.
It may be lack of technique but I found it difficult to start the arc sometimes taking a few goes before I could get it to strike, when I did get it running a cut it was a bit too little penetration or cutting a kerf about 5mm wide on 2mm ish steel.
More practice needed and probably try it with external air supply tomorrow if it is not so hot and sticky in the morning.

I don't see how they are getting the air required from such a tiny internal compressor ?

Can you get one and add it onto the non compressor model ?

The tech spec says the internal compressor is only 2.5 to 4bar so that would keep its power requirements down, unfortunately I couldn't find a flow rate.

With your 5 kW generator what power budget could you devote to a compressor? e.g. this thing is only 550Watts and claims 8bar and 73litres/min (2.5cfm) https://www.amazon.co.uk/241183-Silent-Compressor-Mobile-Garage/dp/B00K30LHVS/ would that be enough air?

Good points. I had a wee (25l?) Aldi/Lidl compressor with my cut50 and it annoyed the heck out of me that it was on all the time while cutting. Much more pleasant to use with the 100L compressor I have now.

That's not a scientific answer but I'd presume the Parkside folks know what they're doing, otherwise there would be a lot of returns.

Ah so you could modify it to have a water trap on the back of the unit and use the internal compressor.
