Heh, 60litres of petrol, gas canisters and some nails ?
I have a builder mate with an LPG converted Volvo estate that was more dangerous than that
WTF do they teach 'em in these "training camps" ?
I can't take an explosive-free car bomb seriously..

those guys where so badly equipped you would think they where government funded. they all overspent on the nice motors and where a bit short when they got to the bomb shop. not gonna be funny when one of these tw&ts flukes it and manages to hurt someone though

Just comes across as amateurs trying to act big and not doing a good job of it. Realistically if you wanted to cause mass chaos and murder you'd think of something a bit better than a big petrol bomb surely?

Right now i;m annoyed! I'm flying out to greece in just under 24 hours and just saw on TV i can't be dropped off at the airport! If i have to bloody walk anywhere int he rain then sit on a plane i'll be ******!

Thats what iv been thinking with the gas and petrol ones in london. crude hardly even comes close.

I don't know if the London ones did fail or not, but if they were viable, they'd have caused massive devastation. Think about it.
The first one was outside a nightclub at the Piccadilly circus end of the Haymarket. Goes off around kicking out time. All those who haven't been turned into dog meat get sent, or stagger, down Haymarket to the nearest open space, Trafalgar Square. To get there, they'd have to go along Cockspur Street, where the Park Lane car was before it got towed. Bang.
Then again, if they can't pull off a simple car bomb without being towed, then they deserve all that's coming to them. **Language**'em.

When I was a kid, a mate of mine's dad was a doctor and was involved with the aftermath of the Birmingham pub bombings. Don't ask me how, but may mate got hold of some of the photos taken by the coroner (maybe his dad?), in the Tavern/Mulberry bars. I was 10 (33 years ago), and can remember them clearly.
I really hope our current wave of bombers continue to be useless **Language**wits. I'm really glad they are, but find their uselessness difficult to fathom.
What really hacks me off is that the muslim population of this country now are ****ting themselves about a backlash, and the vast majority are, like the vast majority of people, honest and peaceful You can see the collective but undeserved guilt on peoples faces. Bad days. Glad I don't live in Iraq tho.

Theyre just *too* crude for my liking, you could rig up far worse with a few acetelyne cylinders which you could nick off any industrial estate in the country stuffed in the back of a white transit, even fertilizer bombs would be more effective and they went out in the 80's. And ten minutes in a rc car shop and you could use something a bit more subtle than a phone to trigger it. The fact that the petrol was leaking out and creating a smell indicates that it was not contained in a vessel that would allow the pressure to build up and create a truly devistating explosion.
These petrol bombs were not intended to kill massive amounts of people or blow the sides out of buildings like the true horror of the ira's bombs on mainland britain, they were designed to create spectacular explosions with lots of pyro effects and flames. They were designed to install fear and panic, which even if they failed to go off, they achieved sucessfully. People know petrol goes bang and everyones seen it first hand for themselves, so its a very visceral thing to let everyone know there was a car stuffed with the stuff.
As for the motives behind them, and the timing, well two thoughts strike me here, either a) some people wanted to make a point to the incoming prime minister, or b) frightened worried anxious people are easier to control, and make sweeping statements and emergency powers to combat the hidden bogey terrorism.
Ill leave you to come to your own conclusions, I merely float the idea that we should keep a open mind rather than just taking the spoonfed version. Ill watch with interest...

Now, everytime a plot is foiled it always makes me think just how stupid the bombers must be. haveing delt with govement departments and govement run subsiduries, london underground, Inland revenue, Customs and exsize, Essex CC, Health and saftey, planing commities, all without fail have been the most useless bunch of idots to walk the face of the planet needing several months and a huge buget before the simplest of jobs or decisions can be carried out how can the anti terroism branch be any diffrent.
Lets hope the idots who bomb things stay one step behined the idots in charge.
You`ve summed it up mate. Abramic religions are like closing your eyes and making a wish !............then believing it all came true. The terrorists it seems were using Lucas electrics to trigger the devices. These guys were about as amatuer as our politicians in Edinburgh........thank goodness!
