Longest of long shots - Startrite SP147 bandsaw

I bought this Startrite SP147 10 speed bandsaw as a project. It was cheap because it has a few bits missing.

In particular, several bits have been lost from the upper blade guide. The big round hole is where the rear bearing should be mounted, to stop the blade from being pushed back as it cuts.

I can make something that'll do the job, but I'd rather copy what's supposed to be there. I wondered if anyone has a similar machine and could take a picture of the parts, or maybe even a page from the manual with an exploded diagram.

The obvious Startrite parts specialists don't list anything for this model.

Found this website, says £52, but if you put your machine Startrite, then SP147 in, it says 50p?

Maybe try contacting that owner?

People on this forum really are amazing. @Smouser thank you, I did find those pictures, but I keep thinking there must be some kind of fore-aft adjustment, and I can't get it straight in my head how that might work

@8ob would you really let me borrow that guide assembly to copy ? That would be fantastic. I'll send you a box with prepaid return postage and some cash for a pint or two.

As an aside, I'm really happy with my example. I have a chunk of work to do to finish it off, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. My workshop is a small single garage so I don't have space for much machinery.
This one has speeds from 56 to 3,200 feet per minute, so I'm expecting it to meet all my bandsawing needs.

Surely something like that is too good to be festering in a yard !

Thanks Mat. I guess we all love Lathes.co.uk.......I bought a manual for my latrher from there years ago, but when I saw £52 I thought ...er, no. I'll look again at he 50p option though

Thanks Tom. Bob has stepped in with his amazing offer to lend me the upper blade guide assembly from his, so hopefully I'm sorted. Looking forward to getting it all back together.

The motor is running nicely via an inverter now

Hi Mamil6, looks like you have the same machine as me but I bought one that was in a right sorry state (see pic). I'm in the process of stripping, re-building it but having a problem with the motor, the motor bed and the belt tensioner mechanism/spring because the whole assembly was out of the machine. May I ask if you could take a couple of photos of the motor and assembly in place in the machine please, can't seem to find a manual anywhere. Thank you.
