Bosch bench grinder

I didn't know, until today, that Bosch make a 6", 350W bench grinder. How I've missed that I do not know.

Anyone ever used one; Any good?

I think we all know how this is going to pan out. It's Bosch & blue.

Yes, they also do a 600w version.
Both seem to have a decent amount of power compared to something like a Sealey/Draper equivalent.
Nicely made, all cast alloy construction, feel like a quality bit of kit.
Smooth, quiet running.
Rocker switch on the front, personally I prefer the red/green push buttons.
Not sure they are as good as/any better than others at the price point but the bosch spares backup is normally pretty good for a long time which might add a bit of value to them..

Didn't actually keep one for myself as you can buy a used crusen or something for the same price..

Cheers for that info. Always hard to gauge from photo's as to quality.

Did notice the 8", 600W unit too, but never really been able to figure a need/use for a larger unit than 6", for what I'd use it for. Just general sharpening duties would be my use.

The bigger wheels put less heat into the workpiece so are supposedly better for sharpening blades.
Or, just take your time and use a 6" properly

The extra power is useful if you wanted to fit a polishing wheel/sanding belt etc.
But again, for the price you could buy a proper old floor-standing polisher..

Basically, if you want everything in your workshop to have a bosch badge on it just buy either one.
You won't be disappointed with it.

350 watts is going to suffer, when you grind anything in anger, 600 watts will obviously be nearly twice better.

I've a half decent ancient 220v bench grinder, which is pretty good, but my 3 phase bench grinder, it's on a pedestal, is the bees knees.

Basically, if you want everything in your workshop to have a bosch badge on it just buy either one.
You won't be disappointed with it.

They don't do everything I want in/for the workshop.

A grinder is one thing I won't actually put in there. Grinding dust in there would give me nightmares. Made a spot just outside the workshop door for a grinder.

I'll not be grinding anything like an animal. Finesse is my forte.

I've stopped delaying the inevitable & ordered it. @hotponyshoes's recommendation is good enough for I. If I do ever need more grunt, I have that Baldor to refurbish, or can look at other options if need arises.

Plus, this's the first time I've ever bought a new, good quality bench grinder. No shame in spoiling myself.

I have one and it’s good but I also have a park side generic one and that’s just as good ! The quality of the stones and the tool on the Bosch is really good though!

Quite a nice looking thing. Nice long rubber sheathed cable on it too. Not that pokey type cable which seems to be becoming more commonly used on everything nowadays.
