A fitter I know is convinced they will send out the wrong part to initiate the sale in an attempt to buy time and get the right bit in. Best to do your own research these days and only give them an OEM part number to cross reference.

Trouble is, ECP and the like cant operate from anything other than a numberplate. As pointed out above, they wanted a plate to sell pink coolant! I buy oil from them (never parts). They ask me for the plate on my 110 and look at me like I am the stupid one when I say its irrelevant as I have changed the engine!

True if you try and use their online service, I phone in to our local branch and they are happy enough to cross reference oem numbers. Caused a stink in there once, they advertised oil on promo at 50% off with no mention on their fliers of it not applying to the trade barrels,I drove out of there with two 205l barrels of 10/40 for about £120 each. They soon sorted that one out

I've had the oil thing too. Was told it didnt apply in store to 25L tubs. I said it was ridiculous and that i would order online from the car park and be back shortly to pick up. The girl agreed and gave me a better discount at the counter to get rid of me.
It all depends on what you want and how quick you want it.
Land Rover stuff tends to be pretty easy, people like Island4x4 have a massive range and list cheap through to OEM.
I find Euro is fine as long as you do your research and order online and often they list decent OEM kit like Lemforder but the reality most people will always pick the cheaper stuff. I've never bought oil from them as I've always found it way cheaper in 25L drums from Westway or local tractor parts place.
Partsinmotion I find very good, stuff like Napa springs and shocks are literally half the price of the local motor factor for exactly the same item. I happily use the local suppliers when in a hurry or need to replace something broken.
Autodoc list loads of stuff but I can't be doing with waiting 3-4 days for stuff to arrive from Europe

Island 4x4 are a dreadful company. They are as cheap as they are at the expense of manners, customer service and consumer rights. Avoid.

I noticed this too - I have reduced my spend with them over the last three months.
We've suspected them of doing that, but we have quite a major contract with them, so it gets flagged upwards to our purchasing guys.
Plus if we do think they're at it, and something wrong gets delivered, we'll go elsewhere for the part, and make a point of telling them that Dingbro had the correct part on the shelf.
But there is the flipside that some of their parts guys are just useless.
Our local branch even has one guy who is no longer allowed to serve us, as he somehow manages to get everything wrong.
cars stopped using the same part for generations of different models, now it's variations upon variations for the same model of the same year
got bought/taken over by andrew page ltd. The debt they took on buying it sunk the lot as they tried to chase profits by going cheap and ****e like a euros copy insted of carrying on with the quality caf was known for.
then euros bought the lot in some shady back hander deal which got the Competition and Markets Authority involved
so it got broken up again in some other suspect shady dealings
Main dealers are doing some service exchange parts now. I got a service exchange EGR valve for my citroen van the other week.
