Trouble getting air die grinders

I have been having difficulty getting a new air die grinder, low decibel or carry away kit versions.

Ingersol rand and cp were the manufacturers i had been after and struggling with, sub 80Db or piped exhaust models, but either the grinders are not available or the exhaust kits.

Any recommendations, any brand or model that can take 1/8th shank bits and are sub 80Db or piped exhaust...

I have looked at their range online today and sent an email to see if there is a uk dealer.

Ahhh the controversy being its battery powered.

Im looking for less bulk to handle, but I will keep the options open if there is not a suitable pneumatic option.

Yes, alot less bulky than I had thought, I will definately have a look at the straight version of it.

I can really lean on it with a 12mm burr.

@KimB is to blame for me buying it. Don't regret it.

Having to use a pneumatic die grinder is a chore these days. Battery all the way.

I have the both the M12 straight and right angle die grinders and absolutely love them, at first when you pick the straight version up your initial impression is that it might be a tad too long but when you actually compare it to an air tool with the hose connected and bent at a somewhat decent angle its about the same.

It was worth it though. They’re so great! Especially with some 3m roloc stuff

Having to use a pneumatic die grinder is a chore these days. Battery all the way.

I have an M12 die grinder and full roloc disc kit etc too. It's great for what it is.

However, in terms of raw spindle speed and power my Air die grinder is better. So if I was to grind out a load of spot welds I'll reach for the air grinder every time.

So your experience with a battery one will depend on what your planned works are.

I been useing of late:

Milwaukee 12v die grinders.

8mm high horse power air grinder with tubed exhaust

Makita 240v long nosed die grinder.

Plus a selection of - snap on - blue point air die grinders in my drawer with the bits in to at the time I need them...

Milwaukee m12 is good, angled version can be a pita to control in a tight hole.

What is the makita like to use?

What I use it for needs accurate placement and minimum bearing runout to stop chatter and bounce. the weight and ergonomics are important for its accurate use. Its on hardened tool steel which is carefully shaved away so i was put off by the 1.6kg of the makita. it does not need to do heavy work under a lot of load, more precision. Which seems like an oxymoron when you say die grinder and precision!
