Digger buckets

Ok so I have a Kubota compact tractor (B8200) and it has an back actor /backhoe attachment it's fairly old early 90's I think .
It came with one digging bucket but at 16" it's a bit wide

I need a narrower one 9" and possibly 12". But it's not the same as any micro /mini digger I tried www.digbits.co.uk they suggested a company called Abiljo near burton on Trent ,very helpful and they can make a 9" for £217 plus vat and 12" for £235+ vat

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any spare ones hanging around in the nettles/bramble patch ,cheers mike

Plenty of dealers in this country specialize in second hand buckets. Look through ebay as it very rare for them to list everything they have.

Bruce atfield machinery in Gatwick have a literal mountain. With a 45t materials handler sat in the middle to lift out what is needed. I would give them a try as they seem to have one of everything

To be honest 217 plus vat seems fairly reasonable for one to fit. No messing.

If you don't need the 16" why not cut it down .

I know pretty reasonable price but just asking incase anyone has anything kicking around ...., the digbits ones are very reasonable too but this is non standard which they don't do . I see @KimB has a video on the digbits site

If I did that I'd probably need it soon after , plus I'd rather not have the hassle of doing that tbh

Im not digger expert, but in the 6 years Ive had mine, Ive used the 9inch bucket and the 36 inch, never the 12 or 18 inch.

If I was to buy another bucket it would be a 6inch for drains.

Since you've got one bucket as a pattern I would buy a secondhand bucket of the width that you want, cut the existing ears off it and get a pair plasma cut to your existing pattern, weld them on - job done. Quite a common procedure.

Yes but by the time I've bought used bucket ,Inc carriage or going to look at it , got someone to plasma cut bits etc there's the £200 or so that the new one is costing ..... It's ok if you can do it all in house as it were .

To be honest no one is gonna modify or supply you a bucket cheaper than £200.
That's 4 hours labour. There's at least 4 hours to modify your existing bucket or cut new ears and stick them on a used bucket.

It may be worth seeing what pin sizes / ears are more commonly available in a near size and modifying / adapting the back actor to suit.

The 2CX I bought to replace that Kubota is an odd diameter and spacing. It's quite close to a 5t Komatsu pin size if I bored them out a bit which opens up a whole host of bucket options. Also handy a mate down the road has a load of used buckets from his machines which I can have mostly free.

Abjillo were quite happy to make me a quick hitch that that mounted on a 2CX pattern but picked up 5t Komatsu buckets. The downside being that £700 replaces a lot of worn out pins which would be money better spent.

To be honest I can manage with just a 9," bucket I reckon , I don't really have the time to go modifying stuff ,plus if I ever needed to do serious digging I'd hire a bigger machine in . good to hear you were happy with Abiljo's work on your quick hitch .
The machine could do with a few bushes etc .I've done the king post ( I think it's called that at least ) ones replaced with some oilite bushes ...
I'm waiting on a new aftermarket stearing box from the states for the tractor it's self , Apart from that she's been good .
Done all the oils/filters etc and may treat here to some paint this year
sako I did see a 2cx on a farm I collect milk from didn't see if it was like your with the backhoe tho , I haven't seen it again since .

I will check the bucketery tomorrow, what are the pin diameters, spacing centre to centre and distance between the cheeks?

Draw your bucket in CAd, send the DFX file to brad or others for plasma cutting.
Weld it up yourself.
Used to a member on another forum named "Mark McGrath" from scotland, and IIRC he made a bunch of small buckets for various customers. Sadly passed away, but I believe his son carries on.

I see your getting plenty replies, I have an Iseki tx 2160 with loader and backhoe, same issue, short on buckets, I picked up a JCB on pretty cheap and added the brackets myself out of scrap I had lying about, a good few hours of work but my time does not cost me anything in some cases.

Used to a member on another forum named "Mark McGrath" from scotland, and IIRC he made a bunch of small buckets for various customers. Sadly passed away, but I believe his son carries on.

Those Jocks have different ideas on what a small bucket is, picked up a machine from Ayrshire a few years ago and there was a bucket in the workshop they considered "We"

Oh I didn't order it in the end - better to spend that money on pins etc. - which I haven't done. Besides 99% of the time I'm using the front-loader on it, the ability to lift 2t and up to 14ft is a godsend at the moment with all the building work - having the front bucket on a quick hitch has meant swapping between it and pallet forks is a doddle.

The 2CX are an awesome little machine in my opinion, phenomenal lift capability for their size. It will comfortably outlift my parents' neighbours' 200hp Valtra with Quike Loader, his would lift 3t to about 2ft but could only manage about a tonne at full height (about 12ft) whereas the little 2CX can lift 2t to 14ft. The back-actor will also out-dig in depth and reach my mate's PC50 - a 5t Komatsu. The Komatsu will lift more on the back-actor though but I can dig deeper. Plus they'll do a full 360 in their own length.

Shame they stopped doing them and went with the 3CX compact which is just a little bit bigger in all dimensions which makes it just that little bit too big to fit into the tight spaces where the 2CX excels.
