The axle end has snapped off.Please forgive my ignorance but what exactly has broken at the wheel in question?
It did ,the driver didn't notice for 1/4 mile luckily on a farm track.That is what I thought but was unsure. How the hell did it not fall off the trailer then?
I was thinking soft solder with a nice clean break like this.New axle time. That's the only repair I'd be happy with doing on that.

On checking he found the tyres were still supposed to be blown up to 5psi, because they still provided the suspension, like the earlier balloon type. He had blown them up to 35psi because they looked like truck tyres.
