Royal Mail no longer accepting international parcels ;-(

I was trying to book on a radio converter module, going to Michigan USA but the Click and Send service will not accept anything above a Large Letter. That means that I have had to book it on with Herpes, much to my disgust, all the other options were more than the customer paid for carriage. There is a note on the booking page that "Delivery is not guaranteed, but has a high success rate". So is that supposed to re-assure me? They also have restrictions on contents: The code I use wasn't accepted by them so I used their browse. Any car parts will not be accepted, but luckily I was able to work out that the correct code needed a trailing 00 on the P2G booking form.

Something else I found out today is that there are no import taxes for goods under £560 to Michigan and I assume that applies to all states.

These cyber attacks are getting worse and worse. Almost finished off TNT a few years ago. If they hadn't just been bought out by Fedex I don't think they would have survived it.

Royal Mail used to do an overseas signed for delivery service.... except when they lost a letter I'd sent to the USA they told me they can't track it once it leaves the U.K. I'd have to get onto the local delivery company in the US.

Royal mail have started shipping parcels internationally again, however as of yesterday they were clearing the backlog before accepting new items.

I haven't heard - we don't use them.
In fairness people always knock them / Hermes and yet I have had loads of my Ebay purchases delivered no problem at all. A nice old chap delivers to me in his car. I have said it many time before but 99% of trouble is caused by bad packing. Poor labelling doesn't help either.

That could take them quite a while!
Royal Mail like everyone else seems very quiet at the moment. I have only seen the postman once in 10 days. Not even getting junk mail at the moment

I found that out the hard way.

We are still reluctantly using RM for overseas as we can’t get anyone else to do it. If I was in England I’d use DHL but they won’t collect here, just deliver

I Most of my experience is good. But it's just not acceptable not having a human to solve the problem.
Biggest issue is ideal world charge you to tell them the parcel has gone missing.

Odd, I sent 2 x 1.75kg parcels today, via a local post office.
To be fair, they took them. But did say it will take longer than normal, due to a back log.
One was to America the other to Israel.

I still find it odd that a parcel from Israil can get to me(In Wiltshire) quicker than a parcel from Peterborough can.

But at least the Post Office staff were upfront about the reasons.

Just been back to the post office to find out why something hasn’t been sent to the UK.

Seems as we only use RM for international, the useless bint didn’t go through the pile and spot the one for the UK so it got held along with the rest of the murican post.

They’re 3 weeks into a malware attack and still not sorted it. However you can pay three times the price and they will magically accept those ones.

I did point out that it’s funny that this has happened on the back of losing loads of money with people like us not using them anymore for domestic stuff. Or am I cynical. Just got a vacant look back.

The RM site is now accepting international parcels it would seem. I have four to go on Monday, 2x USA, Argentina and Denmark. I'm not sure that I want to risk them, but the only other option is Herpes. Talk about a rock and a hard place!

I feel your pain.
We had 9 box's to go out to MIS and Tool Charities.

The local good place was very honest and advised us on delays, issues and the chance that they will not get there.

In the end to get them out, we paid UPS to collect and take charge of them.

Just make sure it's covered for the correct amount....if it doesn't turn up in 4 weeks or so, just claim.
