Generator changeover switches?

I want to fit a generator changeover switch at home for when we get power cuts (trees falling on lines and grid blackouts)
I can't fit a massive box in the cupboard above the fuse board but have a nice metal 3rd amendment enclosure I want to use but it only takes din rail mounted gear, now I've seen a couple of makes of switch but don't know much about them quality wise.
ESR and Fusebox seem to pop up on searches, has anyone used these or have another recommendation?

Never seen that design before they are nice and compact we always use rotary one's.

Fusebox units are excellent and cheap. I don't do many 1ph generators in fact this year I haven't Done any only 3ph ones and always use rotary type unless they are auto changeover so can't comment on if this type is any good but don't see why it wouldn't be!

Ok sounds like a Fusebox switch is what I'll order.

Pozzed off now as the boiler packed up earlier and then the bloody missus flooded the neighbours kitchen using their washing machine as ours is broken, 9 month old Hoover, total craaaaap!

I'm now wet and covered in filth and dog hair so asked her to boost the water so I can have a shower and she lets to boy use it up FFS!

Does that mean you've used Fusebox gear for 3 phase installations?
I'm surprised loads more domestic consumer's haven't got a generator ready to go these days!

No sorry that was a bit misleading, not sure if Fusebox do 3ph switchgear yet. But their 1ph consumer unit and RCBO's are spot on, not had a single failure so far!
I think people are starting to look at generators for home, trouble is that unless you have plenty of fuel and spares for services then even a generator is only limited help, ok if the power is only off for a few days/week.
Also a lot of people looking at battery storage, ok if you already have solar or cheap off peak and a spare £5000 or so to invest in it

I installed this Pramac 6kva single phase genny next to my shed connected to the house using the redundant 6mm swa that used to supply the shed before the 25mm swa and three phase, used this changeover switch from ebay, £50.00 ish, but out of stock at the moment,

I think there are legal limits on how much fuel can be kept at a domestic residence?….
I s’pose not many have the room for a diesel bowser parked in their garden….

A 10 liiter can will last a decent enough time for me as long as the whole grid doesn't fail and stay off for days...
I'm not having a dig at you at all Chippie but I'm less and less inclined to worry about what's legal or not these days, I've had enough of the do what we say not as we do brigade in Westminster.

I have a 3000 ltr tank of cherry if your stuck. But its acceptable to use white if your needin* to watch corrie

I‘d sooner sit in the dark…..but I could use the red for space heater in the garage while I work…

I used most of my red in the VW Polo, still have 75 litres for the genny, mixed it with some petrol / diesel mix saved from my days running a repair garage!

There is no limit, as far as I am aware.

There are rules, guess they are to mitigate stupidity, however if one is stupid enough to get it wrong, they probably couldnt find the rules anyway.

If you're really tight on space adjacent to your Dis Board / Meter Tails etc... then you can cable "loop out & back" to another location in a different room or space to site the c/over switch.

Come across this issue quite a few times (esp. In older buildings where they had a hallway cupboard for all the electrics distribution, not a decent Mains space away from the daily operations areas).
