Been thinking of making one of these for a while.
An open ended press with an upside down bottle jack, the jack is converted by fitting a 'snorkel tube' to the oil pick up port on the hand pump.
This frame is made from 51/4" by 21/2" c section, and it takes the full 10 ton load under the reinforcing 45 degree section, a little less futher out (I want to make the jack so that it can slide on the arbour).
A few more holes and the table can be positioned lower down for larger stuff.
Certainly beats paying loads for a commercial one, no disrespect to you guys that might own one, but the clarke version looks a bit thin to take the load.
The photo shows the jack the 'right way up' for testing, I'm waiting for a long series drill to do the upside down mod.
