This Guy CAN weld. CAN - get it?

Well where do you post something like this?

Was in my local welding suppliers today getting some bits when I spied this on the counter. Seems like a bit of a challenge from someone or something like that - bet I can, bet you can't sort of thing. Anyway the result in my eyes is pretty good. I wish I could weld like that. Maybe it's dead easy. Or maybe ....

I haven't even moved onto trying stainless yet, never mind aluminium or even TIG!

That really is rather impressive! Ive heard the tales of TIG welders welding the tin foil round their sandwiches....I wonder?!

Impressive, indeed. Wonder how it was done? Was the filler material of lower melting point than the can, perhaps? That would still need a great deal of control not to blow holes in the can!!! Is there anyone out there who has done something like this and care to share?

im not saying it is but could be technoweld aluminium brazing there dont seem to be any burn through on the inside of the can on the joints

just looked up there data aluminium melts at 1218 degrees and technoweld at 737 degrees acording to them. the info is on google

There is a vid somewhere on the net of a guy doing the tin foil trick. So it can be done but the guys control is really something to behold. The speed of travel is ermmmmmmmm rather impressive to say the least. That's part of the key to success it seems.

type in google welding coke cans theres a guy on u tube welding one but it dont look anything like as good as in the post bet it was done with technoweld

1218 degrees what? Not C.

Have it on very good auth from the chap in the shop that it WAS TIG. He's a customer, but in a commercial sense. He works for a welding company on the estate. They do some architectural stuff that has to be neat.

I would be happy if I COULD get blu-tac that neat. I'd be on Blue Peter.

That bit of a can is thicker than the sides, pretty thin though! Looks good. I couldn't do it!

I done a pespi can not that long back, turned out not to bad considering i done it with the mig plus its was steel can.
Good tig welds though

I like silicon my self. I find blu tak quite tacky
